I literally live there, I can't see my house but its somewhere in those hills. Funny story; we built our house in 2015 and moved there, I started running in the early mornings (still do every morning at 06:00 am), people specially those with the camels and other livestock, thought I was some kind possessed by evil spirits hence they believe that Naaso Hablood (The two breast-shaped mountains behind you), is lived by Jinns. They've told me this after some while ago when I stopped and actually talked with them. Some of them actually didn't impressed by the idea of running is good for health and I had to explain to them a lot about it's importance specially people who use vehicles all the time and work 8-9 hours each day. Now we are like best friends and they call me Ordaaye (The runner) every time they see me. Such an amazing people.
@SamirahJees2 жыл бұрын
That is funny, actually yesterday a local was explaining the jinn on one of the mountains and was explaining during the war a plane crash into that mountain. I can imagine how foreign it would see to the locals someone running at 6am for pleasure and health.
@yasinereg81482 жыл бұрын
@@SamirahJees Yes. That was actually half of the true. When planes were bombing in Hargeisa in mid 1988/1989, some of the pilots were actually dumbing their bombs behind those mountains coz they refused to bomb innocent civilians. That particular plane that crashed the mountain was actually intentional coz the pilot ejected himself from plane and it crashed in the left one. Another pilot who was recently awarded the highest civilian Medal in Somaliland landed his airplane to Djibouti and ignored all the ruthless orders from his superiors to bomb Hargeisa. My dad, told me it was like a Holocaust. So sad. Yes. They don't see that more often but they get used to me now. It's been like close to 7 years now. Oh, BTW I just wanted to remind you that there's still some old soviet era mines in those mountains. They cleared 99% of it, but sometimes locals keep finding them so you may wanna be careful with the kids. Tell them to not go any places that seems bushy. Welcome to the neighborhood guys.
@hassanabdikarimmohamed25052 жыл бұрын
@@SamirahJees I think to them its weird this notion of running for health because they walk such long distances on a daily basis that they are mostly fitter than Olympic athletes so to them running seems kinda pointless...but to us in urbanised settings sitting a lot and walking a little running is essential

This camels are not friendly all the time you shouldn't allow your children to be near them so closely especially they shouldn't stand behind the camels and believe me a single hit may end a man's life not mention children, the nomad man was shouting don't stand behind the camel in Somali language, also why your son is not wearing shoes this cactus may hurt him he may get infected from it so be careful
