Great video! Really enjoyed it😃 thought you were just another proffesional big coffee youtuber, so when you said you wanted 1000 subs i looked over - cause I was listening while working - and I got really suprised your channel wasnt bigger. Ive just bought a ceramic v60, so it was quite interesting to see the new take on v60. Keep it up!

You get the most flow through a filter when there's a transition between it touching a surface and it not touching a surface, because the origami has more of these transitions, it makes sense that there will be higher flow. It's a kind of inverse wicking effect and is reasonably well documented

Nice review. I too am sensitive to eating and drinking noises and your slurping was much less irritating than some other people i know (like Lance H. That mans slurps nearly make me gag theyre so gross and he gives no warning 😅)

Haha, I'll always try to give warning going forward (and maybe I'll lower the clip volume)

so the v60 has some of the water go through the side and intro the cone holder. I imagine with no cone, there is less of a path for the water to bypass the coffee on the side and is why it's a slower brew.

Interesting theory! I'll have to see if there's a way to investigate

My thoughts are that the Suiren may impact the temperature of the water you are brewing with while it's in contact with the grounds - since there is little surface contact between the brewer and the filter, maybe there will be less heat being drawn from the cone into the holder. Since air is a better insulator than glass, maybe this helps keep the brew hot. You also don't need to pre-heat the holder.

Definitely a possibility! In the future I'll have to invest in accurate thermometers, etc. Thank you for watching and giving it thought!
