Unfortunately his talent didn’t stop him to play music for Serbian Chetniks who committed genocide in Yugoslavian wars . This is a part of G. Bregovic’s part that his fans don’t like to talk about.

However, he is also married to a Muslim woman who is the mother of his children, and he was born to a Croatian father and raised in a multicultural Sarajevo, making him culturally a Bosnian. He has never hidden any of that and he still identifies with pre-war Yugoslavia. That is why Bosnians from mixed marriages (like myself) still have a fondness for him. In that respect, he is very different from some other musicians (Prljavo Kazaliste and Bora Corba) who jumped on the nationalist bandwagon immediately and never got off.

Ofra Haza & Goran Bregovic - enough said. Here's an interesting fact: not one song in this (gorgeous) movie is an original, they're all Bregovic's remakes of the music from his own previously recorded works. Elo Hi was, for instance, remake of his song (in Serbian) "Kad odem kad me ne bude" (in English, roughly) "When I'm gone". Another, extremely interesting fact: La Reine Margot was the movie about one of the pivotal moments in French history, filmed in the years of French cultural puritanism introduced by the the Minister of Culture Jacques Lang (he went as far as kicking the anglicisms from the Larousse dictionary) - yet, not one single word in the entire soundtrack is in French!! Hebrew, Greek, Serbian, even some imaginary/invented language in the song "Ruda Neruda"... I like to think only GB can do such a thing - that man can do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING...

From 2:04 to 2:12, her voice inflections were just heart breaking.Too bad that, in her repertoire, there weren't more of this kind of songs to fully exploit her exceptional voice.
