But he had developed paternal feelings for those boys. He look over them with his blood red eyes, and for a split moment, they softened. He recalled a memory of when they were still just fledgling creatures. So weak and fragile. But now with each passing day, those boys become stronger and stronger. And Azomedeus knew that he would want to watch them grow and grow like the trees they sat under. How far would they go? How strong will they become? Azomedeus wanted to see it all. "They are more than I could ever be." He muttered bashfully, as his usual sharp focus returned to the moment. "I see." The old lady smiled. "Here, I packed you a little bit of some extra goodies in the basket, do take care and safe travels. I cannot thank you enough for helping my granddaughter in Ederville. This isn't much, but it is all that I can do." "It will be more than enough. We sincerely appreciate the gesture and will make excellent use of your generosity." Azomedeus looked down at Keith and Keitou, and nudged them. "My, you are quite well mannered young man. You must be a hit with the ladies" she said. "Actually he never takes the armor off" Keith blurted out, prompting a blow to the head from his brother Keitou. "Oh really?" The old lady looked flabbergasted. "It is true. I do not believe any but my own father has ever seen my face without this armor." Azomedeus said flatly. He ruffled the hair of Keith in a playful way. "Oh how horrible. Don't you get hot or tired?" "No. I am stronger than I appear to be." "Oh, you seem plenty strong to me as it is." "Then, we will be off. We have much ground to cover." "Safe journey, and may the God bless you with favorable luck." And with that, they were on their way. Heading to the Nödwood, home of the Elves, and the next broken piece of the puzzle that they held in their hands.
