Not only am I on the autism spectrum, but I also have complex PTSD, and I’m totally blind. I’m a sesnory seeker, but some tactile things throw me off. Like if someone bumps into me unexpectedly, that throws me off, mainly because I’m blind. I love deep pressure and hugs though. There are some textures that I hate the touch of. For example, certain silicone things, I cannot stand the feel of it. I love the feel of the sensory brushes though. I like soft things, shaving cream, and quite a few other textures. It would take hours just for me to name every single texture that I love, and the ones I really don’t like.

Kindly tell about the activities if the child is over responsive and the activities for under responsive...it will be more helpful

We have other videos for sensory seeking (under-responsive) and sensory avoiding (over-responsive)! Those videos might be helpful!

Is ASMR dirt crumbling a tactile issue?

Could be tactile and/or auditory and/or visual.

I really have a love hate relationship with tactile stuff. I am a seeker in that my hands always have to be moving and touching something. I need to pick at things like I need to breathe, but I get overwhelmed with touch pretty easily too, especially light touches like that feeling of water drying out your skin and then when your skin touches your skin it's the devil 😹 or the fact that I can feel every single grain of dry dust on my hands if I get in the mud 😵 it's death when it dries. Dishes are a nightmare. Is it just the amount of textures that make my skin crawl that makes me both seeking and avoiding?? It's maddening just so you know.

Hi! Definitely sounds like light tactile input is noxious to your sensory system! We recommend using heavy work / deep pressure strategies to help combat that overwhelmed feeling. Using a weighted blanket, heavy work to the muscles, etc. Check out our video on proprioceptive tasks for more ideas. You can also try using gloves when doing the dishes - maybe that will prevent the awful feeling of the water?

@@HarklaFamily Hey thanks for the idea! I've tried it a few times, but sweaty pruny hands also feels gross 😂 I think I will try it again, cuz it might feel less awful than the wet hands, since the water applies pressure when you wear gloves. I find that the most effective way to get the touch sensations that I crave without overwhelming myself is to do things like rubbing, picking acne, digging my skin, so things that are both tactile AND proprioceptive at the same time. Any ideas for this one??
