This the best video for setting up a practice amp I've seen on KZbin. Spot on. I wish my guitar Teachers taught me all this when I was a teenager 30 years ago😆 I had to figure it out for myself. But that's half the fun. I'm looking at buying one of these second hand. This video helped me make up my mind. With a bit of knob twiddlling I can know I can get a good sound out of it. Cheers.

@@Goosebear77 Hi Noel and thank you for your warm comments. The hb20 r is a great amp combo for not a lot of money. It’s great fun finding your own tone and it’s the best way to learn how to use any amp. As you know the speaker is the biggest factor in creating tone’s and this amp does a great job. Second hand speakers are just as good as new ones. Some people like the sound of a speaker once it’s been used for a while too. Worn in so to speak. I’m not sure if it’s a thing or not but some people seem to prefer the worn in sound? What are your thoughts on this?
@floydhendrix43993 жыл бұрын
The connection options on the combo are unique for the price range. The control options are also very varied and the sound is great. The design is very classy. I think this combo is really great. Many of my guitar students bought it on my recommendation and think it's great and are 100% satisfied with the combo.

Some great tips. Everybody always thinks they need specific gear to get the tone that they want...I've always been one to think that the best gear is your EARS. You can tweak EQ, etc with what you have. I have tube amps, Helix, and more; but if I wanted to, I could get whatever I want from my early 90's Peavey Bandit (solid state, $150). BTW, if you come across a 90's Bandit (especially the "red stripe" ones) buy it!
@molometer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for dropping in and I totally agree. All we need are our ears and a bit of patience and you can find the tone you want. Tube amps are brilliant and I've used a few. I'll keep an ear out for a red stripe amp. Thanks for the heads up. 👍🎸😋

Great tips! Thanks! Also must cut through the mix when playing with a band. Mids are very important to get a fat clear tone, a lot of ppl cut the mids and put too much gain which lends to a tonal fizziness.. might sound good at home practice but in a band set will sound really bad..
@molometer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricardo and thank you for your comments. You are absolutely right about the mids. Without them we may get lost in the mix especially in a band setup. Many people think that they just have to crank up the volume to be heard but as we know it's the tonal quality that separates the various instruments. Glad you found this helpful. 🎼🎶🎸👍

@molometer11 ай бұрын
Bizarrely the amp is still working perfectly 4 years laterl. Treble has it's place but heavy gain is often used by some guitarists to hide their bad guitar playing or technique. Gain to the edge of breakup is okay but beyond that it's just noise.

Hello again Yezda, single coils have that distinctive Strat 60Mhz cycle hum or buzz as you describe. It's just how they sound. There are almost 'silent' single coils but they cost more. Most people don't bother to change to them. Once you are playing no one hears the buzz 🎶🎸👍
