I knew there must be a reason I have held off on buying a HB. Thanks for the honest unboxing.

You are very welcome. I always tell it and show it as it is. And then if I can fix it that's what I show next. Unfortunately not this one. If the neck heal had been the same size as a fender I could have replaced it and saved it but with the heel width being too wide that's a killer

Wow unbelievable!! This video couldn't have came at a better time. I've been looking at this guitar for awhile now and almost pulled the trigger a few days ago. Glad I didn't. You just made up my mind. Thanks again Mike!! Always great stuff!!

Ya, this one was crap. #2 replacement is a bit better but still needs the usual work stuff. It's save able. Video series to come out in a bit.

Luck of the draw. Nothing wrong at all with the one I bought.

Yeah, I very nearly went with this one, too. Glad I didn't. Ended up pulling the trigger on an even cheaper one. From what I've heard, price doesn't necessarily correlate with quality on HBs.

I bought mine 2nd hand for $150CAD and had to replace the bridge with rollers. This guitar is a pain to change the strings, as well, what with the ferrules blocking the passage of the string through the guitar. Other than that, the looks and the tones I get from mine make it a keeper. Can't wait for your series on it.

The Roswell pickups in it are really good. That's the saving Grace.

Damn, bummed to see you got such a crapper from them. I've purchased 2 (SC-DLX Gotoh and a TE-90 FLT) and both are great. I did end up doing a little bit of work with a fret end file on the TE, but nothing crazy. Sorry to see you had a bad experience with them, they do have some great stuff 😕
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 Жыл бұрын
I bought scdlx and te90 as B stocks and both of them were better than this
@bear1084 Жыл бұрын
@@2bikemikesguitartopics145 my SC was a B-stock 2 lol 😅😅 Only thing I ever found wrong with it was a tiny bit of what maybe looked like excess adhesive on the sides of a couple of frets, and they sprayed some of the pink paint onto the plate around the input jack. Both 2 minutes fixes. Now I know to at least stay away from the TE40

Wow! This thing is garbage! As I was watching the video, I was thinking to myself man, this guitar is not worth your time! I would only keep it if Harley Benton told you to keep it plus they were going to send you another one and lo and behold at the end of the video that's exactly what they are going to do LOL! And I agree with you 100% why would they not check the guitar for cosmetic and functionality at the warehouse before boxing it and shipping it out to a paying customer??? I guess common sense, and common practice or hard to come by these days...
@nnamhor Жыл бұрын
There isn’t enough $ in the price to cover quality control. And I agree about not being worth any of your guy’s time. It’s why I won’t do business with companies like this.
@j-man9457 Жыл бұрын
@@nnamhor budget guitars are great modding platforms. I have bought quite a few and they are now killer instruments! However they work and are playable when I get them! But this guitar 2bikemike got is inexcusable. I can understand a terrible set up, bad fret work or screws not tightened down! But bad electronics and an unpolished finish on a brand new finished product? Come on, that should never be a QC issue, thise things should be addressed and checked as the guitar comes down the production line... budget isn't the issue, lack of common sense is lol!

Holy moly! That’s one of the most disappointing unboxings I could ever imagine!!! Hopefully the next one is better… Or at least salvageable! Things like a bad switches, jacks, and sometimes even pickups, are easily fixable, and fret work is harder, but still manageable… But things like bad woodwork and finish work would be the absolute death blow to me!
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 Жыл бұрын
Yeah if the heel with on the neck would have been like a standard fender I could have replaced it and gone forward but it's wider so any replacement fender style neck will just have too big a gap on either side then I decided I didn't want to have that look even if it was a second version of that guitar. I was hoping I could save it like I did gold one which was really messed up but salvageable and offer it up as a giveaway. Number to did come in a little better, just needs all the usual work

Yeah it's really hit and miss on the beast stalks. Thomann quality control is non-existent. The little tags they put onto the guitar are put there by the factory not by Thomann. They never inspect the guitars, so it's a total lottery what you're going to get. I've stopped buying with them years ago after too many disappointing quality issues.
