I got the older Version in White, so the Version just before the current "Extreme-84 Progressive" which has also the traditional Explorer Shape but modded with an Emg 81... So in love with that Baby 😍🥰

Just got one about a month ago. Man, I LOVE IT! First of all, it's absolutely beautiful to look at. Even if it was trash to play, it would almost be worth it just to hang on the wall. It's just gorgeous. But that brings me to my second point: It plays FANTASTIC! I haven't played in years, so I wanted something "budget" to get back in and expected the sort of normal obstacles you run into when dealing with the more "affordable" or entry-level instruments. Bro, this thing is fucking buttery smooth. It has been an absolute joy starting to play again on this thing. Top to bottom, everything you feel while playing it is more than you could ask for, especially at under $300. Initially, I wasn't too keen on the pickups and had planned to invest in some more metal oriented ones even before I got it. However, after spending some time with them, getting to the point I can play along with some tracks, I've actually grown to like them. Still might change them later on, but these things are far better than most people give them credit for. The only downsides are that the neck pickup isn't seated quite properly and the G tuner is a little bit flaky. Just a little. But again, for $300? Man, my buddy is going to come show me how to do a proper set up when I change the strings and we should be able to sort those minor issues no problem. Or I'll get a new tuner when I order my next guitar from you guys if you sell them. Thanks for the amazing axe! You've gained a long-term customer for sure. Even with shipping and possibly a couple hundred bucks for pickups, it's still more affordable than an Epiphone and, imo, far better built and equipped. Cheers!

That thing absolutely impressed me! Regarding its sound, it reminds me of the my formerly owned 2012 Flying V (999 €) although it costs almost one third of the price!!! There is only one disadvantage: The left strap pin position makes the guitar imbalanced on the left side when standing; one always has to hold the neck up in order to prevent a sudden neck drop...

@Quiksilver the headstock is way different anyway. Gibson's explorers have banana headstocks. I would have liked to see a more banana-like headstock though, maybe like EVH is doing with the new 5150s

I have the lefty version of this since august 2023. Amazing guitar. The neck on mine is faultless. Explorers are underrated guitars but they are really versatile, comfortable and the guitar sits right where it should sit for easy access up and down the neck. Gosh if only Harley Benton would do a Korina PRO series one!

I currently have one on back-order. Can't wait to see how this compares to my old Gibson EX2 CMT. I hope to let my Gibson rest safely in its case for a while and use this Harley Benton for playing out live to take the nicks, scratches, and sweat! I like the fact that it has a slightly smaller body and is lighter in weight than my old Explorer. I'm sure it has a thinner neck profile as well, which should also add to playability - as long as the frets are truly "jumbo" as advertised. Also, I may need to change the pickups to Gibson Dirty Fingers or perhaps Seymour Duncan JB and '59. Don't know yet, of course. I will need to evaluate the stock Roswells. They were not too bad in a double cut Harley Benton I had for a while last year, so we will see if they stay in this one. From what I can tell on this and other reviews, they do have character and kind of there own sound, which is refreshing to my ears.

This one is a EX-76 but the black/white ones are EX-84? Still waiting for this one to pop up on the store. I wish the current black classic EX-76 is reworked like this one (shape-wise).

Btw, @Harley benton: As everybody is bringing in their wishes, I really would love to see more natural finishes on the guitars. Oiled or clear coated, I dont mind. Even veneer will do for the top, eg. oak burl on alder or mahagoni body or something.

Poly finish is super cheap and they can spray a ton of guitars at once. Oil finish will up the price. I agree a natural finish will oil just feels ten times better.

Nice looking. Hope that ebony will be darker looking. Is it mahogany or sapele as on modern version? Only one personal crucial question- why not stainless steel frets? Modern version does not have them either. Is there a rule that for 24.75 inch scale guitar stainless steel frets are forbidden?

I guess they wanted to stay in the 300 euro price range? Bigger body requires more materials and with locking Grovers, the manufacturing costs are probably bigger than those of Fusions. I think Hunter's signature guitar will have SS frets, but I am not sure.

@@dainiusvysniauskas2049 I hear you but the point is that they are the company that started to offer them on cheaper guitars so there is no reason not to offer them on all 24.75 scale guitars also. SS frets on aftermarket cost from 5-10 euros more, so the in house price is about 1 euro more. Only real additional cost in comparison with fusions is the neck. Sapele may cost a bit more than maple and the construction is more costly as it has a heal piece glued and scarfed joint. Fretwork would cost the same as on fusions, it has the same body as fusions without additional cost of putting and gluing a veneer. The bridge surely don't cost more then on fusions and it has the same electronics and pickups (models may differ). Fusion WSC locking tuners are just fine. So for me there is no excuse whatsoever not to put SS frets. If needed for cost covering reasons, 320 or 330 euros instead of 300 would not insult anybody.

The fretboard of the guitar demoed doesn’t look like ebony AT ALL, despite the specs claimed. It looks like rosewood or pau ferro to me... Really pale to be ebony, and grain not tight enough either...

I'm a big fan of reverse headstock guitars, but I have to admit, for these explorer/destroyer body styles, I do much prefer the current downward pointing headstock over the older upward pointing reverse one that these EX's used to have. I think it looks much better. :)
