I changed my tensioner shoes with Cyco gasket shoes for $12 dollars @ 118k miles. I also replaced the lifters, while I was in there. Everything else still looked good.

Have the exact same problem on my 02 wide glide with over sixty thousand miles, just waiting for the parts ,, you are right on the twin Cam always check them every 25 to 30 thousand miles and I did check them at around 40 thousand they look good then, But when over sixty came around that was it,, 25 to 30 thousand is a must with the older twin Cams ,, Thank you for sharing this Video,,

Of course my '99 TC88 has the cam position sensor behind the little cover. Obsolete sensor and cover so if it fails you have to get the later ecu module and delete the sensor and the rear cam sprocket with the raised ring.

The service manager at my local HD dealership, who I am personal friends with, said I don't have to worry about them until 30K.

That’s a valid opinion, I would definitely check them at 30k but wouldn’t wait any longer.

@@socalmotorcycleservices2876 Will do, I have 15K on now.

Have a 2006 street glide 20k miles. When should i be concerned with tensioners....?
@socalmotorcycleservices287611 ай бұрын
I would check them out on your next oil service but I wouldn’t worry too much, it is still early.

I have an 03 ultra classic with stage 5 screaming eagle engine and tab performance Zombie Exhaust. I have 60,000 miles on it. My point is, they wouldn't have done all that work without changing the cam plate, you wouldn't think?
@socalmotorcycleservices287611 ай бұрын
The must have changed them. I would think they probably changed them to gear driven or hydraulic atleast. Maybe next oil change you can pop the cover off and have a look. It is very easy to look.

@socalmotorcycleservices2876 yea, it was done at Killer Creek When it had 14,000 so I think so. It sounds and runs amazing. It's the 100th Anniversary so you think Harley went all out on it...
