Idk maybe this can be a update. I have a 2012 street glide CVO model it has flush mount fuel gauge and filler cap. Replacing the fuel gauge as it does come straight up (spring loaded)there’s a rubber o-ring on it so check that too. and a quick release plug right at the gauge you don’t have to snip wires underneath the tank. Disconnect the three prong plug from the Back of the old gauge and just put the new gauge in its place same wires will work

Man do you still have the old guage looking for one for my 2005 harley davidson fatboy and your bike looks good

Sorry no longer have the gauge, thanks for watching

Pretty Mickey Mouse upgrade design for $225! One would think that a "premium" motorcycle company charging prices that are in the stratosphere would design an "upgrade" that you didn't have to fight with to install. Of course I won't mention that these "premium" motorcycles should come from the factory with this sort of a fuel gauge instead of that circa 1940's analog dial gauge.

2002-2007 are interchangeable years....the wiring from 2020roadking led gauge is compatible to the earlier 06 wiring?

Will this work on a 2000 Harley Road King Classic, is the diameters for fuel Gauge and fuel side the same as the newer touring models?
@Thesimplehomeowner Жыл бұрын
I don't think it will work. I went on the Harley parts page and clicked on each gauge and 04 is the earliest model I found. Maybe at the dealer they would have better idea.

You didn't show the new wires being installed into the tank. How do you do that without gas leaking?
@Thesimplehomeowner6 ай бұрын
the wires go into the hole in the tank. there is no fuel there. it is sort of like a race way and just goes through the tank to the bottom where it comes out to the harness.

@@Thesimplehomeowner Thanks. didn't know that. Also if I may ask..... Harley offers a bronze LED fuel gauge that says it's for 2008 RK and up. Why wouldn't it work on my 2006 RK? Is the hole a different size? Is it a wiring issue? Could it be adapted to work? Thanks again.

@@timw3241 I’m not sure, I know the road king changed in 2007, it could be something to do with the trim ring but I’m really just guessing at this point

Hi. Did you need to disconnect the battery ?
@Thesimplehomeowner Жыл бұрын
I didn’t, I tested the connector with a test light to make sure nothing was live. Probably should have, but was lazy.

@@Thesimplehomeowner i have a 2000 Road King Police FLHR , my OEM Gauge works , but I noticed last week that the readout gauge plastic probably is broken off over by the Reserve level side. After watching your vid, i went out and check connector. It's pretty darn tight on the wire pig tail they allow to play with , gonna be a neck strainer .

How did you flush the tank of gas?
@racex37212 жыл бұрын
Did you decide to sell your old fuel gauge ? I bought another ite still not showing the level also when I reinstalled the wires to the connector I put the push pin in the bottom level row instead of the top would that make a difference basically the needle moves up when I'm on level ground then goes all the way down if I'm on an incline
@Thesimplehomeowner Жыл бұрын
good question, with out looking at it I don't know. you could always release the wire and try it again. Sounds like that could be the problem though

How you got it flush?
@Thesimplehomeowner Жыл бұрын
just keep messing with it and pushed it a little harder than I was originally doing. I wanted to be careful and not break it. Just a little more pressure is all it needed.
@bobfitzgerald62233 ай бұрын
@@Thesimplehomeowner I know it’s been a year since your comment. But it just won’t stay flush. I see the hidden part of the gauge has these channels cut in and it’s for the little spring loaded locking pins to snap it in place. It’s just not happening
@Thesimplehomeowner3 ай бұрын
@@bobfitzgerald6223 does it go flush and then work it’s way back up? I didn’t think I was going to get my flush at first, I even walked away from it and when I came back I just pushed harder and it went in. Without seeing what is going on with yours unfortunately I won’t be much help. Good luck

You’re gonna hate that gauge soon. I have it on my CVO what a pain in the butt
@Thesimplehomeowner11 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that. What type of issues did you have?
@garywaldrop752911 ай бұрын
It is an OEM CVO gauge but you can’t see it during the day, hard to see or read. Sometimes it pops out and does not want to go back together. Love my bike but, CVO could have done a better job on the gauge considering how much the CVO bikes cost.

You right. I got a 07 cvo Springer and my glass broke from tapping it to get it to turn on 😩 I’m replacing it today.
