Great video as always my bike has forward controls on it. I’m glad you’re safe in Florida and doing well. I have a 2003 1200 XL custom and I enjoy the forward controls for the space and the comfort. I bought the bike new and it has 66,000 km’s (41000 miles) on it now. I use your videos to help me service it. The bike never sees a shop. I do all the work on it myself, including the tires. The clutch is still original and never wore it out. The bike works as good as the day I bought it. Since where I live, we can only ride a motorcycle six months of the year. Soon time to put it away might get a couple more rides in this fall. I did a small carb modification when I first got it put a 1/16” flat washer under the rod needle to give it a little more fuel it was too lean. I don’t remember if I got that tip from you or not. Then I adjusted mixture screw never had a problem since. To store the bike, I use fuel stabilizer put in about a cup of two-stroke oil, fill gas tank with 94 octane, change the oil, Then take it for a ride, and then I run the carburetor dry. So far I’ve never had to take the bowl off the carburetor to clean it. In the spring after the first ride, I fill it up with gas and put in about a half a bottle of seafoam in tank, if there is any dirt it’ll clean it out.
@TwoWheelRoccoАй бұрын
Happy to help. They will last forever, oil changes, tires spark plug. Put them away and storage and if it's a carbureted bike, turn the gas off and run the system until there's no gas in the carburetor and you'll never have a problem. What do you think? Thank you for all your support. Ride safe and have a great day.
@DCSPORTSTERАй бұрын
@@TwoWheelRocco yes I think running the carburetor dry if you’re not gonna use the piece of equipment for a while it’s a good idea. You’ll have a lot less problems.

@@TwoWheelRocco it’s got a frame that comes with it, but it doesn’t have any numbers on it at all. It’s extremely raked? And it comes with about an 8 foot long, narrow springer front end.

Great video as usual, Rocco. Man, what model is that Vette out there in the driveway at about 1:20? Looks like mid 60's... Probably the sexiest car GM ever built!! ... Those factory mid controls should be a quick way to recover some of the cost of the forward controls with people building Scrambler type builds these days. Take it real Easy, Rocco :)

@@TwoWheelRocco Tommy here, Rocco.. I enjoyed the ride in that fine machine! I could feel the tire shake when you caught third gear rubber!! My cousin was offered the chance to buy a 63 Split Window with the 340 horse solid lifter 327 for $3500 in the late 80's, but he chose to spend the $2000 he had in his pocket on an 82 S10 pickup, and not go borrow the extra $1500 for the Vette!! Man, he talks about how dumb he was almost every time I see him! I have a 68 Rally Sport Camaro with a 350 and an aftermarket 5 speed in it that I am going to restore when my rich uncle gets outta the poorhouse :) ... I run mid controls on my 06 XL1200 Low and I like them, along with some highway pegs for stretching out some. But I have noticed that a lot of people are looking to buy mid controls and tall shocks, running on/off road type tires. ... I just did a 2 minute search on FaceBook Marketplace and people have some really rough-looking mid controls listed for around $250!! I only looked at what was available within maybe 100 miles around my house and only looked at what was on the first page. You should be able to find a buyer if you want to sell yours. When I bought my Sportser, everybody wanted Forward Controls, but since the "Dirt-Ster" fad started, people that were building choppers or bobbers are starting to build Scramblers and now they want Mid controls so they can stand up on the pegs offroad, and the stock Harley Davidson parts are beefier than the aftermarket mids, so people like them... Enjoy that beautiful Vette and your nice bikes this coming up Fall and the rest of this summer! Thanks for the videos, Rocco!

I just put 8" Z-Bars on my 06 Sportster. No problems no new cables needed. Well accept for needing a new throttle cable because I found a place where the sheeth was rubbed away. Forward controls are next. QUESTION for everyone, are the $100 sets good? I really can't justify $400+.
