I put the exact same Mustang seat on my '09 Sportster 1200 custom this summer. I was used to the HD Brawler solo seat which is low and slim. At first, the Mustang seat seemed huge and I felt like it was lifting me up too high and pulling my heels off the ground and tbh I wasn't sure I would like it. Well, I gave myself a couple of weeks to get used to it, and maybe to break it in a bit, and I have to say that now I just love it. I think it looks great on the bike and I think it's super comfy even after riding a long time. My Brawler had be crying in pain after an hour but with the Mustang, I don't give it a second thought anymore. I also no longer feel like I'm going to slide off the back when I giv'er the beans. Another mod that I highly recommend it getting the Progressive 412 shocks, standard spring rate, and get the 12.5" to replace the stock 11.5" because the longer one has almost 1.5" additional travel and I'm telling you, the difference in ride comfort is bloody huge and immediate. The seat and the shocks are the two mods that I should have done first right after I bought the bike. They completely transform the experience of riding your bike.

I have been considering shocks as well. The sportster offers a stiff ride with the stock suspension. That might be a modification I do in the spring. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

Well done and thanks for sharing your insight on your Mustang seat experiences. Agree seat is most impactful add regarding comfort. I recently acquired an 05 1200 Custom added same seat also added handlebars from swap meet from touring model which are taller and wider using Burly cables kit and 13" rear shocks these Sportsters are much more than many give them credit for regarding day long riding. Ride on

I like the look of that seat on your bike. I think it looks better than the stock one.

The seat is certainly more comfortable to sit on. It is a well made nice looking seat. I wish the bike manufacturers would make nicer stock saddles.

@@WheelStories Absolutely! HD seats are functional, but not elegant. My Ultra Limited OEM seat get the job done, but does not add any class to the bike.

The seat looks great. In fact, my wife thinks it looks better. I put a Russell Day Long on a bike I had and it was hideous. It was so comfortable I didn’t care.

A comfortable seat makes a huge difference. I will choose comfort over looks every time.

I’m looking for a better seat for a sportster. I have a stock one and my but sits right on the ridge on the seat as it goes up or I’m sucked up to close to the tank.

That looks very comfortable! Could you please share the link where you bought the seat from?

I bought it from Mustang Seats. www.mustangseats.com

Hi, Sorry this comment does not relate to the above video, but I'm really enjoying watching your channel from the UK, especially the BMW editions as I'm currently interested in purchasing a R1150R. I've previously owned a number of boxer engined bikes including a R1200R, RT, and GS, but now want an older bike that I can restore, cherish and maintain. I notice you have examples of both the single and twin spark versions of the R1150R and would be really interested in your views about the differences between them ...ultimately I need to decide whether to hold out for one of the later versions, or not. Any insights you were willing to share would be much appreciated. Thanks for hosting such an interesting and enjoyable KZbin channel. Warm regards. Howard

Thanks for watching the channel and posting the message. The twin spark R1150R feels like it has a bit more torque and power. I haven't studied the specs or dyno tested the bikes but the twin spark pulls just a bit stronger. I notice the difference when loaded for touring and doing steep inclines through the mountains in Idaho and the pacific northwest. Seems the twin spark model doesn't run out of steam on the long climbs where I may be forced to shift down a gear on the single spark. Apart from that, the bikes are nearly identical, except the 2004 twin spark came factory equipped with ABS which failed in a big way. But I love both bikes and plan to keep them for the long term, thinking that I may need to part one out to keep the other alive down the road.

Are you planning on selling the stock seat?

Haven't considered selling it yet. Not sure. I will likely keep it for a while in case I decide to carry a passenger someday.
