The small gauges have been fogging up and are not very well lit, so here is an "Upgrade". Swap out the standard incandescent bulbs in the small gauges for LED T10 type lamps in red.

Nice! Good job! What is the type of light? 194 styled? Same with the OEM?
@BigniceJohn4 жыл бұрын
Same as OEM, but LED. Watch polarity. If the bulb does not light, remove it, flip it around and reinsert.

Hello! what leds did you use? any brand or anything specific? Im looking for the Yorkim leds from Amazon..
@BigniceJohn4 жыл бұрын
Eduardo Loya The LEDs were nothing special. Just T10 in red. Don’t go crazy bright.

Hi, nice job. Just a question about the headlamp you swapped over. Do you notice any excess heat coming from the LED light? I'm thinking of replacing my light on my 97 glide to an LED, but am worried about the heat from it. Or have I listened to too many scare stories? Cheers
@BigniceJohn7 жыл бұрын
No heat issues to speak of. Not as hot as the halogen in there before. I have 3k miles in this light now. No problems.

BigniceJohn thanks mate, I'll fit it and keep an eye on it. If I have any issues, I'll let you know. Great videos, keep up the good work

Eds Shed go for it. I also just did an LED amber turn signal swap with a basic resistor pack style load equalizer. I will post a video of that soon. Also work great and was less than $80 for everything I needed.

So you can't swap the lights on the 2 main gauges?
@BigniceJohn2 жыл бұрын
No. They are leds on the gauge board. There are no user accessible bulbs, at least on mine. The manual backs that up.

For a 93 flht classic will the T5 work and is it same process shown in video you have a 2000 why I ask
@BigniceJohn5 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the 80CU bikes. The faring should come apart the same way and a quick look will tell. I would guess it would work though.

I have 05 flht the tach and speedometer have a different connector of the gauge how do these come apart?
@BigniceJohn6 жыл бұрын
Jim Torre I would not mess with the speedo and tach. The lights in those gauges are soldered onto a board and are LED already. There are kits and paid services to do those. The entire gauge has to be removed and disassembled. At least that is true for the batwing and street glide main gauges.

My Toyota has red dash lights from the factory and they're the worst damn thing ever. In the daytime wearing my sunglasses you can't read the gauges. All you see is a red glow. In my Harley I switched to mini L.E.D. bulbs to replace the 194. In fact my Harley now has all LED except for the turn signals.

Can anyone that has done this mod comment on the longevity of their LEDs? I have read other places that guys are having issues with them burning out after a few months to a year.
@BigniceJohn4 жыл бұрын
I did this bulb change of course. A year later I sold the bike after riding a few thousand miles and all was fine. The issues with them not lasting is in the quality of the lamps more than the technology. Get good bulbs, they last.
