If Harley was trying for the metric sound they nailed it.

Sucks, but who can argue double the power and way less weight?
@spaceflight1019 Жыл бұрын
@@RobWillKill87 It's not all about power and weight. The motorcycle I miss the most is the KZ650 I had. I've been riding the 2005 1200 Roadster I bought new and it still does everything I need it to do, 83,000 miles later.
@RobWillKill87 Жыл бұрын
I purposely got the biggest twin cam Harley makes. I could have got the 107 or 114 was looking at fatbobs but chose a older 2016 Softail slim because of the traditional Harley look feel and sound. I could have went way faster at the same price range but as you said it wasn't all about the power and weight. I wanted that Harley sound I grew up loving and the M8s and Revolutions def aren't it. But for 100hp at least than 500 pounds that 975 is sounding pretty tempting right now.
@spaceflight1019 Жыл бұрын
@@RobWillKill87 When I bought mine I was a field service tech. I needed a bike that was as close to the 1982 GS850G that I had been riding. At the time the internet was full of stories about the Big Twins' lower ends coming apart because of a bearing change. The Sportster crowd was loving the new rubber mounts and how much better they made the bikes. I missed out on the XR1000 but the XL1200R was close enough. It was a great decision. I added a windshield, luggage rack and backrest, Sundowner seat, highway pegs, and a few other things but left the exhaust and engine stock. My neighbors didn't need to hear me leaving for work at 4:30 AM. The 3.3 gallon tank was a concern, but the bike gets 60 mpg and I stop every two hours for gas and Gatorade. Reliability has been excellent. The belt broke at 74,000 miles and, unlike the Big Twins, I changed it at home in about an hour. I added Progressive suspension a few years later and it made it even more comfortable for 500 mile days. I have yet to read a review from someone who has just gotten out and taken a 975 for a day ride. The 1250 got rave reviews for the engine performance but panned on the seat and lack of suspension travel. Having your spine slammed on expansion joints is a dealbreaker. The OEM seat on the Roadster made my hips hurt after 30 minutes or so, but the Sundowner cured that. How do the new bikes do on the road? Do big trucks push them around when they pass? What kind of mileage do they get? Lousy mileage relegates it to barhopper status. What does it feel like at the current 70-80 mph speed limits...solid, or like a cat on a hot tin roof? These are the things riders need to know before spending money on a bike they can't ride to work because it's fundamentally flawed.

After my 57 year old ass got to ride this I can easily say with 38 of those years riding everything there is to ride Ducati really nailed this. All kidding aside purists will cry foul but this is a home run for Harley and a great step forward. Just waiting for the Nightster Special in billiard blue to arrive. Evolve or die

What does everyone usually idle at? I'm jumping from as low as 1100 to as high as 2k RPMs and it's driving me insane! Anyone know what could be causing it to idle so rough?
@coltono32236 ай бұрын
When they're first started they'll have a high idle. I've also noticed while moving sometimes the idle is around 2000 then when you stop it drops down. Seems intentional but I couldn't tell you why

my 800 Vulcan sounds more like a harley than that thing. my 800 Marauder sounds like that. that marauder is f'n quik though . vulcan almost quik. guarrantee i paid less for both of them together than a new nightster. and I bought the Marauder new 25 years ago. it is still like new and i fabricated a belt drive for it. also stage 2. even the seat i made for it 10 years ago looks exactly like the nightster. hmmm ?ill race a nightster any day. 800 old vs new 1200? we'll see some day. power to weight is outstanding on Marauder. there are 3 stupid short vids if my two 800s on my channel.
