I'm pretty sure that "Dingleberry Hone" is the name that was on the patent application. I'll bet the guy at the patent office had no idea what was up. 😁 Back in the day, a valve with an edge cut too sharp was called a pizza cutter. BTW, I HATE doing "oners" ... of anything.

Oh ya.. its like eating pizza without the beer. Nearly pointless. 👍 Don

Just out of curiosity How can .001 eccentricity in the cylinder be "allright for the guy" when the piston to cylinder wall clearence on these cast aliminium piston should be .0015 ?

Thats eccentricity to bore dia., not clearance to piston. Well w/in spec per HD.

Hone with a torque plate and head experts are now claiming valve compound is bad and do not use it. Ever evolving technology.....

Ya, probably cause there are enough lazy techs that don't want to take the time to re-clean all the surfaces. I've been round the block on that issue, and until you get a comeback with the very edge of the valve burnt to a crisp and everybody is scratching their heads.... Why, because the NEW head experts want to by-pass a step. Whether its to ensure a proper seat position, lap it in or just peace of mind, as far as i'm concerned, there's no school like old school. My 2C.

So much wrong, worst mistake made on these heads happens when so called machinists punch out the guides cold, sometimes with punches and they splinter, and don't clean the carbon. Ruins the guide bores and custom guides need to be fit and holes repaired. Valve guide to stem clearance critical and fitting valve seals. High quality repair parts, Kibblewhite & AV&V. Protrusion is important, look up the factory specification and adhere to it. Most pans need all new seats to restore OEM protrusion so the upper spring collars don't hit the covers to mention one thing. .001 out of round means it needs to be rebored OS.

Ya, could see a lot of botched work done here. Guy just wanted it running. I don't think he rides it to boot. Sits on his porch and collects dust. Would like to get him to sell it too me so I can build it right and spend some time in the saddle with it. Don
