And the best part is he's not entirely out of character. Taking over Gotham, being mayor, that's all still in character for him, at least performance-wise. We can appreciate his character development, while appreciating what a megalomaniac tyrant he can be. His good nature toward his family is wholesome, yet it keeps us on our toes, knowing that he may not share that sentiment or self control toward others at any given moment. These writers know how to make the show work toward their advantage, rather than against it, or in a predictable fashion like most Superhero shows do.

I actually liked that part. Because Joker is one hundred percent right. Of course it's for his self gain to not have his brain bashed in and go on with his night's plans, but he also is the best one to knows the off things about Harley. Obviously it's because he's an ego maniac and he knew how to play Harley like a diddle from their toxic relationships, he knows where to push and where not to push to not break her. Ivy despite having real feelings for Harley doesn't, and was pushing Harley towards something that would on the long run make her miserable. The difference is that Joker did it all knowingly while Ivy doesn't as he said in this clip. He hit two birds with one stone, because he got himself spared and able to go on his day, while giving a helping talk to Ivy for Harley and solidifying their relationship, which in the long term would make them go off his back. (One could argue it was for Harley's sake as well, and who knows maybe since in this version Joker seems to actually have changed a bit, but 80% of that decision was for his own gain of having them both off his back imo)

Joker's manipulation here is SO GOOD. 0:05 "I've never known Harley to be a sloppy ropeswoman." He's planting the seeds here to show that Harley is off her game, probably distracted by something. 0:30 "People can be more than just one thing" showing that Harley is also evolving like Joker. 0:52 "Does she still put one giant cardboard box in the recycling bin?" After seeing Ivy realizes what Joker is doing, he pulls back with a seemingly harmless quirk about Harley that he knows Ivy will pay attention to to get her to break down her guard. The next scene we see both of them, they're chatting casually like friends. 2:21 "You know what I really loved about her though? The way she went along with whatever plan I asked her to do, even when I knew she hated the idea." Joker then points out the obviously toxic parts of his relationship to get Ivy to call him out on it, and Ivy takes the bait completely. 2:29 "Well you know, add that to the shit pile of reasons you were a total partner and narcissist." And with that line, Ivy seals her fate. Joker sees exactly what's going on with Harley and Ivy and the minute Ivy calls him out, he is quick to flip the table on her. 3:09 "I didn't want to bring out the big guns but when did you ever see Harley forget her bat?" The nail in the coffin. Ivy never stood a chance.

Also shows what the Joker is too, a Master Manipulator. Sometimes, just as much as some Batman Media show too much "superhero" and less "world's greatest detective", you can go "too crazy" with the Joker. People forget that he's not physically strong (not supposed to be) and he's supposed to be able to counter all of Batman's strength and training with manipulations and subterfuge. I love it when he does things like this as much as killing random people. The Joker being a politician makes absolute sense, so much sense that the Batman series did it before with Jack Napier becoming a politician after being "cured".

It is what makes this a great Joker interpretation. They took the character and out him in a different situation. Gave him a family but did not change him. I really love this moment because it shows so clearly the fatal flaw they were building through the whole time. This is where Ivy realizes that Harleys tendency is to always go along with the other person in the relationship. na, he was definitely trying to save his own butt here. he's just crazy good at reading people and unfortunately how to use them for his own gain. but this time he does it in a way to help Ivy since he knows that she actually cares about Harley and would do anything to ensure her happiness.
@Embermoon912 жыл бұрын
But he admits that he did actually love Harley at one point in time but didn't want to admit it then cuz he saw it as weakness. So, he does still care about Harley, even as just a pseudo friend, he just won't admit that. If he didn't, he wouldn't have pointed out to Ivy that she was (unintentionally) making Harley do something she didn't want to do. True he was trying to save his own ass, but he knew damn well what he was doing by giving Ivy relationship advice. As he said "We grow. We evolve. We can be more than just one thing."
@elizabethgregory33522 жыл бұрын
@@Embermoon91 it's been proven time and time again that Joker never loved Harley my dear friend, he's tried to kill her dozens of times. He loved the fact that she's easy to manipulate and can act as his human body guard. He just used the word love to resonate with Ivy and have her point out that he was a terrible partner. He even exaggerated the word to have Ivy notice it.
@little_mushroom Жыл бұрын
It has also been proven in the previous season that the Joker did have feelings for Harley (I wouldn't call them love, but he did feel at least something); but he felt conflicted about them, he hated even the idea of feeling that way, so his solution was… attempt to kill her. LMAO just Joker things

@cedar14642 жыл бұрын
That clearly wasn't a bowline, and bowlines are incredibly tight knots (sometimes too tight even). Sheet bends work a bit better but aren't that easy to tension. For tying up a person you need the tension more evenly spread along the line, which is more wrapping skill and strength. The tension itself doesnt need to be all that great. If you want a really tight tie, make a small bowline loop in the end of the rope. Wrap the rope around the person/object, then pass the working end through the bowline loop. Double back and wrap in the opposite direction. Doing this uses the bowline loop like a moving pulley, which gives twice the tensioning force per force unit you pull on the line. I don't recommend this for people since it creates a single loop with a lot of tension, not an entire bind. This means you have one loop really digging into the person, which for long term chair tying isn't comfortable or safe.

It would’ve been so easy to mess up this Joker. I love how the writers were smart enough to have a “good” Joker still have the same cunning and drive that made him such a deadly force. He just has a more constructive outlet for that now and is getting to a point I think ironically Batman always wanted joker to be at but believed curing him of his insanity was the only way to achieve.

White knight was a cool run. Frankly most versions of Harley crave excitement and justifiable violence, she's traumatised and a little unstable(although she's self aware as a physiologist as we see in this show so that might be conscious coping or a smoke screen for her self denial over not being a bad guy). Her and Mr B are sort of a perfect couple in a wacky comic book way. He needs emotional and physiological support from a smart kind equal who challenges him and she needs excitement and an again equal who doesn't lead her morally a stray. Both are adrenaline junkies who live on the edge and both really care about people and both desperately want a good family, since both were denied that growing up. Now i don't think this show can double back on the Ivy/Harley relationship as we live in politically charged times and they'd likely be burned at the stake. So we'll likely see the redemption of Ivy over the next few seasons to anti hero at the very least which is fine. But i think another long form series could adapt white knight one day and that'd be pretty cool.

For those of you who don’t know, the writers clearly just googled simple knots and picked three at random. A sheet bend lets you tie two smaller ropes together to get a larger rope. A taut-line hitch is, as, kind of like a noose in the at it makes a loop that you can make bigger or smaller. You can use them for clothes lines. A bowline ties a loop in a rope that won’t get bigger or smaller. It’s used in rescue because it’s not a noose.
