The fact you break it down for the simple man Is what impresses me the most about you man. Cause ya know alot of us just can't get to a shop Much less wanna afford it. Me being a all around wrench Just assembly/disassembly points or tricks from a pro Is absolutely essential

Its been 20 years since I did a transmission. I used to be good but these were 4 speeds both big twin and Sporty. Now my current ride has a 6 in 5 speed screaming eagle conversion. I am not even going to worry about it. I am planning on this winter riding season and then next summer sending the whole bike to Kevin for some upgrades and overhaul. I want my old heritage twin cam to pull a little better. Not racing pull as it rarely goes over 4000 rpm. I want more bottom end. My 888 turned 103 needs stroked I think. 😁 👍👍

Very educational for do-it-yourselfers like me. Kevin, you have so many useful tips that would have resulted in damage had I not stumbled across your videos. Your knowledge and experience are unmatched and have given viewers like me a "jumpstart" and the confidence needed to tackle these repairs and rebuilds at home. In the end, I know what I have in it and the feeling of just knowing I did it myself. Thank You Brother for all that you do! Love you and hopefully we'll cross paths one day (maybe Sturgis) so, I can meet you in person. Keep up the good work!

Thank-you so much for the kind words and support sir! I will be in Sturgis to unveil my latest build...the Curve Bike. I'll post a video this weekend sometime about the rally and where I'll be hanging out for some meet and greets. If you can make it Thurs Aug 4th from 11 to 4 at Klockwrks presturgis party, I'll be there and for the first public viewing of the bike. Safe travels. Hope to see you there.

Nice video! I have been using only gear lube in my Harley transmissions since my shovel head days. Synthetic or regular. I believe this is a least partly why I have never had to rebuild a transmission on my bikes. Only exception was my first Harley, a 1979 Sportster. Grooves where the bronze shifter forks ride were not ground causing premature wear on the folks.

I love watching how these new bikes are designed and built. Im so happy to have a 5 speed with straight cut gears. These new bikes with bevel cut gears etc is a joke. Sorry but I'm an old school fella and wouldn't want nothing to do with anything like this. Im perfectly fine with my carbureted bike with no computer.

Kevin, thanks for the video! Any hint why the axles are stuck and binding after torqued the trapdoor bearings nyloc nuts? If I loosen them, axels will spin. Noted also that 4th gear dog ring is not engaging, could go 2-3mm more. Checked and can't see any mistakes. Using Jims kit for 2007.

Kevin, I need to pull my transmission and hopefully get it shipped to you over the winter. It's a 2013 6 speed off of my Ultra Classic, I am having very strange Issues and can't find any info online that is similar. I bought the bike used and my first trans oil change was 4000 miles with Amsoil v-twin transmission fluid, I drained it out and it was FULL of brass colored shavings ? I have researched and can't figure out what in the trans could be brass, bronze or titanium nitride coated steel?? I switched to synthetic 75w-90 and did several short 1000 mile fluid changes to flush it out and I'm not really having any other symptoms or issues but it's still eating itself alive with the brass glitter and I'm just stumped as to what it could be. Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks... Love the channel by the way, a wealth of information!

Good morning Sir. Just bought my Wife her first bike, 03 Springer Softail. Bike needs a lot of love but that's what I enjoy doing. So when I went to load it on trailer clutch was dragging quite a bit. No biggie Price was right So after safety inspection and adjusting cable took her for a ride, clutch seemed fine after cable adjustment warm up for 3 hole oil change. So I dump oil, fill with "Amsoil all the way". Per your oil video, And she now Grinds 1st gear.. Pull clutch apart and inspect all good almost new and notice its a BDL Energy One kit...So wife what's to try riding it so. So I go to dollar general grab a qt of 10/40 and only put 20 ounces in, and its a lot better but not happy with this set up. I have plenty of throw on spring so plates are disengaging. Seems the heavier oil is causing clutch to drag. Any thoughts on this there's a bottle of Captain Morgan with your name on it.... And I do understand your very busy

Would love to hear your thoughts. I have this problem with my 2000 Dyna Twin cam 88 engine. Oil appears from the gearbox in the engine, I replaced the oil pan gasket 26072-99a, tightened the screws in the correct order, but the gearbox oil continues to flow into the engine. Oil pan in good condition, no defects. What would be your opinion? Can any other gasket affect crankcase ventilation? Perhaps you have encountered such a problem. Maybe someone will find your opinion useful. Thanks in advance!

Wait.... @5:15 is it even accurate to call it slip? Sounds more like popping in and out of a false neutral. In the sport bikes there are companies that will undercut the dogs/gears to prevent that. If that was happening to my bike, I'd be very suspect of a bent shift fork too. That being said, in the sport bike world, rounded corners on the dogs and popping out of gear is usually a sign of "lazy foot syndrome" where the rider pushes the shifter just enough for it to kick over on the shift star resulting in an incomplete engagement before they apply power. Once it starts popping out, it's just going to progressively get worse. Do you see the same thing in the Harley's?

I am wondering something after watching many of your videos, you are a knowledgeable and brilliant engineer. But my question is why? Just Why? Some of these videos are just horror movies. I have a twin cam 88 regular servicing by myself and it has a small about of work done to it. I ride it hard and every week and it’s now 20 years old. I don’t thrash it I just ride hard and I haven’t had one issue with the damn thing. So why?

It seems crazy to buy all the special tools to do just one transmission(typical DIYer) What a waste...one-time use. Best to leave it to a trustworthy individual that is reasonable and doesn't deem themselves as that transmission wizard. I.e. they have knowledge but humility and justify their cost with quality. Tools cost and knowledge is valuable. If you need help on a Ford Auto/manual from '80s to 2ks, I'd help ya. But, to become educated and equipped for a one-off job? Nah!, that is a fool's game.

Yeah , but if you got a good deal on an old bike , and can only afford parts... sometimes u gotta just go for it , watch all the videos you can, rewatch you favorite one , and plan on taking way longer than the pros. I take a chance with my life everytime I throw a leg over , it's only fair that I take a chance with my bikes life as well : )
