Ever since mankind discovered mind-altering substances, some among us have been addicts. The one truth we can glean from years of failed drug policy is that people who want to use are going to find a way to use, usually by developing and abusing more dangerous substances. Harm reduction recognizes that addiction is a problem without a solution, but it can be managed to mitigate its more disastrous effects. I wish more attention were paid to this facet of the opiate crisis.

This video fails to recognize the elephant in the room. Yes, if you make it into law to wear a seat bealt, and you punish those who don't buckle up, their will be more people putting on a seat belt. But uploader completely fails to acknowledge what happens when you stop punishing people who do drugs, but you instead reward them by making it easier for them to do drugs.

Over the many years man kind has known of mind altering substances, we have had abusers and addicts. What it can actually accomplish is something incredible. WE can prevent the spread of drugs, WE can save this earth, WE can save our own kind. WE are capable of saving live, if only WE WORK TOGETHER. Fam

You've likely already seen it if you're here, but Kurzgesagt made a _really_ good video on this and how it was implemented and worked very well in Switzerland in the 1980s; it's called "Why The War on Drugs Is a Huge Failure"

deaths from overdose have started to decrease. Either because they all died, or because they have interventions preventing overdoses. That doesn't however mean that these hard drugs are starting to be on decline and the long-term health impacts are still a concern. One issue checked off, now on to the next one.
