In this video, I retrofitted Harman/Kardon sound system in my BMW E46 sedan. Feel free to ask any questions.
Here is some useful wiring info (for sedan version):
Front Doors
Pin on door connector | Driver | Pin on driver | Color
14 Tweeter + 2 Blue/Black
15 Tweeter - 1 Blue/Brown
16 Midrange + 2 Green
17 Midrange - 1 Blue/Green
28 Woofer + 2 Blue/Red or Blue/White(Right Side)
29 Woofer - 1 Blue/Brown
Rear Doors
Pin on door connector | Driver | Pin on driver | Color
14 Midrange + 2 Yellow/Black or Yellow(Right Side)
15 Midrange - 1 Yellow/Brown or Blue/Yellow(Right Side)
Spatial Sound Button
Pin on panel connector | Pin on wiring connector (behind hvac)
19 7 Color Yellow/Black
Pin 7 from that connector goes to pin 15 of amp connector.
Subwoofer Connector
Pin | Description | Color
1 Sound Input + (From Amp) Green

The subwoofer amp has balanced audio input to filter out any interference sounds that can be picked up between the main amp and sub amp.

Yes, you can. But you will have to modify a lot of stuff mainly speaker mountings.

Hello, I have a question about the added spatial sound effect button. I saw that you have facelift version of the buttons line. I have e46 1999 and I have the whole button but dont know where all the wires go. Can you help me with that please? Thank you so much. Kaufi

How did you wire the spatial sound? I read the description and it says pin 19 to pin 7 but is that it? I read in the comments saying how you need to connect it to pin 15 on the amp too?

If you have harman/kardon wiring then that one wire will be there. If not you will have to add wire from pin 7 of connector shown at 11:38 to pin 15 of h/k amp in the trunk. If you dont add that wire and button, you just won’t be able to turn off that spatial sound effect.

Cool video! - did you have to change the head unit with some "special" business CD which has additional pins for Harman/Kardon, or any BMW business CD will do the job?

Thanks! Any head unit is compatible with Harman/Kardon system. There are no additional pins for it.

Hello. Can you answer plz. What about main wires connection to the doors? Is yours had some connectors, or it was cutted and you repair it with Male Pins? How did you connect it to the Male x256/x257 and x273/x274 (i mean that side where wires from AMP goes to the door frames). And what about Tweeter connection? How is it goes? From tweeter to x256/x257 or not? Help me please, i have stereo system and want to upgrade to hifi (same work except subwoofers).

Check description for pinout info. You will have to add 4 wires. For tweeter and midrange. Currently you will have only two thick wires which goes to woofer.

Hey how did you mount the subs to the rear parcel shelf? I’m in the process of doing this same thing but I can’t figure out the subwoofer mounting, none of bolt holes line up on the rear shelf

You need inserts that sub bolts screw into. There is square cutouts for that.

Hello sir, i have problem with my e46 harman kardon, its come from factory in my car, my music sudenly stopped working 7 months ago, i have android multimedia in my car, i tought its problem but i put that multimedia i my friend e46 and worked no problem, i tested amp and its ok, but nothing fixed my problem, but after 7 months from nowhere i heard 4,5 boom sounds from subwoofers i think and music just apeard, 2 seconds and gone again, next day same thing, 4,5 booms sounds and music apeard, forked fine but when i turned car down and up music is gone again, an you please help me, and sorry for my bad english

Yes, just to put wiring that goes to head unit. Also passenger side wires go under hvac.

Hey Can u tell me where the fck this wire goes (the wire from button connector) I do not have the wire but can't see from connector where is it going

@AudioTherapy0 It goes from wire behind button all the way to the amp? And also i was with hifi system before fitting the harman (i have all speakers and 2 subs in the back with amp) Is there something i should do to power the subs because they works but the bass is too weak

Yes that one wire goes directly to the amp. How did you wire sub amp? That amp has balanced input and its wires go to main amp.

@AudioTherapy0 I guess the subs are these 2 elliptical speakers in the back (My car is touring) I have only 1 amp and its at the left box in the trunk Originally have 2 speakers there but they are small and i just replace then with the elliptical ones from harman Everything is just plug and play

You should not have replaced those two. There shuld be 4 speakers in the back. And those eliptical subs must have their own little amp.
