Harmful To Public Safety: 'Woke' Sheriffs In NC REBUKE Republican BIll Requiring Them To Aid ICE

North Carolina Republicans are pushing a bill to require sheriffs to work with federal immigration officials.
The bill cleared the House in 2023 and would require sheriffs to check the immigration status of people charged with felonies or serious misdemeanors.
It stalled in the Senate last year, but the chamber's judiciary committee recently approved it. A full Senate vote could come later this week.
Democratic sheriffs in the state say it's more harmful to public safety if they work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden, who's been vocal about his opposition to helping ICE spoke with Roland Martin about this dangerous bill.

City, County, State law enforcement should not be doing the enfoecement that belongs to Federal Law Enforcement agencies. BTW the Feds don't do the investigations that are the responsibilities of City, County, and State law enforcement. The only times that City, County, State, and Federal law Enforcement work jointly on investigations are when they form a task force.

Last year, 2 illegal immigrants were charged with the death of a Wake County Deputy, and Wake County is the most populated county in NC. The Deputy was patrolling in the middle of the night and apparently came upon them, and they took his life. Other Deputies were unaware of this encounter and started searching for the Deputy as he was not responding to his radio, and they found him with fatal gunshot wounds. One of the suspects escaped jail later and was found in Mexico and brought back to the USA. The Deputy would still be alive today if not for the 2 illegal immigrants.

He is mistaken when he says the sheriff is the highest elected official in every state. In Delaware the sheriff's do not have arrest powers and their job function is to deliver court documents like subpoenas.

Nope you Should Have More ICE agents which The US Government Does Not Have. They Do Advertise for Hiring of Border Patrol Agents. But this Will and Can Drive Up The Crime Rates. Because You can’t Have Sheriffs Deputies doing the Job Of The Federal Government. When you have Local Crimes You need to investigate and Solve and Uphold The Rules of Law. I Live In Florida and I see The Uptick in Local Crime due to this new trend. And you Have a lot of Unsolved Crimes just for that.
