I had a blast speaking with Derek Lambert, of MythVision, as he shared an overview of his deconversion story.
Throughout the discussion, we skimmed through a few concepts related to mythology, the psychology of faith, the amazing experience of escaping from the Bible/Christianity prison and seeing reality for the first time, and being proactive in getting information out to people who don't really know the truth about how Christianity formed.
Looking forward to taking it to the next level soon in our future talks. Many thanks to Derek, both for the video and for his behind-the-scenes support.

Derek you have no idea how much you have helped me. I was an all-in Christian for decades and resonate with how you explain things. Thanks for doing this video with Tim.

I am so glad that I discovered Derek Lambert and MythVision at the time that I did when I was still trying to find my footing outside of Christianity. To listen to his content, the guests that he has interviewed and his collaboration with Dr. Price has certainly been eye opening for me. I was recently listening to him chatting with Derreck Bennett and he mentioned this channel so I came here and subscribed immediately! I'm glad I did! :-)

Learning the true Bible history is what lead to my deconversion. Once I was “woke” there was no going back. Thanks for sharing the truth.

I deeply connect to Derek's deconversion process. When he says "Okay, this is safe." That is exactly how I took my steps. First, a god of love could not possibly send people to hell. Thanks to Love Wins by Rob Bell, I was able to release the fear and belief in hell. There were all these steps along the way that took away the inerrancy of the bible. A study of the Old Testament God of anger and vengeance, helped me to understand that possibly the bible was simple man's side of the story of understand his creation... a search to understand god. So, now that it wasn't literal, I was able to read it more objectively. (My Deconversion took about 7 years.) Eventually I realized that all religions kind of have bits and parts that were connected. So, then I figured religion was just man's trial and error of connecting to god and none of them were accurate. I was able to hold onto belief in god for a couple years while not believing in the Christian God. And now I'm a full blown atheist.

The 6 panel door was created in the 1700’s. It was thought to ward off witches…it has a cross and an open Bible *out of view in this particular door but take a look at those in your house;)

Love mythvision! Been watching for a few years but just found your channel and so glad I did! Question - does your wife still believe? If so do you share what you now know/believe? How has it affected your relationship? I come from a very similar background as yours and have tried talking to my husband and he doesn’t want to hear it. I usually end up trying to believe again but only lasts so long before I end up in dis belief again.

Yooooooo I love that you referenced Hopsin Ill mind 7. That's the only time Hip Hop has ever made me cry. It's the most raw, real, hip hop song I've ever heard in my life. I also heard it after I stopped believing, so that may have had something to do with it too lol, but still. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was impacted by that.

1:28:00 Derek brings up a little mentioned point in Judaism. On why things go wrong! And the benefit of having a God to explain why things go wrong. So they can never blame themselves as a group. Except that they were being punished for displeasing God!

The big old difference is the emotional manipulation between religion and the logical nature of atheism. There is so much emotional manipulation and self deception from the delusion of belief and faith. In atheism we all have to sit with ourselves and find a way to be okay with ourselves. That’s a hard thing to do.

I wish my fundamentalist Christian brother in law would stop and use his brain for two seconds and stop being manipulated and self indoctrinating himself and my sister. I know he could be an amazing human being, but he is so delusional right now it’s scary that they are about to have a child. I am devastated for that child to be traumatized with religious belief.

Nah, myths are not history. It’s fiction mistaken as history. It’s people’s beliefs about history.
