His accuracy with those harmonics is just astonishing.

Super fun lesson! Ten trillions harder on nylon strings, but still very constructive video. Mattias rocks. Hugs!

He is the 'Hawkeye' of natural harmonics, he's just so damn accurate with those harmonic 'taps'. fyi - I think he's using the joint of his finger to 'tap' the string (i.e. using a hard surface as opposed to using his 'soft' fingertip). He also helps to cox out the harmonic by then immediately raising the whammy bar back to pitch. There is also some special fretting hand muting going on (as well as some palm muting by his picking hand). imo - Practice getting the harmonics at the 12th fret first (imo - the easiest harmonics to sound), then try the 7th fret harmonics and then the 5th fret harmonics. That will set you up to try the trickier ones around the 9th,4th.3rd and 2nd frets (and their 'mirrored' positions above the 12th fret). Happy Harmonic Hunting! :)

I wish he went into more detail on the actual action of slapping of the harmonic. To me it's kind of a gamle when I do it, sometimes it exactly what I want, and other times it just sounds a mess. A bit of info how to to mute and improve accuracy would be great.

Yeah it just takes practice like anything else. I still don't have it down as much as I would like either. He obviously spent a lot of time working on it as it is a big part of his sound. I concur it would be beneficial to us all if he went more in depth on the topic instead of going off on random nonsensical tangents. Even though his style of playing isn't my cup of tea per say, I do respect his originality.

He must have massive gain to get them screaming out like that. Of course he IS an exceptional player.
@Exgrmbl5 жыл бұрын
+robe mcfee Not really. He plays with very little gain and a very mid-heavy sound. The kind of stuff he does is all about precision.

i don't get how you can just get the harmonics by just whipping the strings with your middle finger....i actaully do it by first flicking the string with my index then lightly touching the harmonic note with my middle finger....wow...you know that's pretty amazing how you can just do it with one finger..
