Please do a video of the efficiency of Flower Turbines, which also use a vertical axis design. They're heavily funded, and they claim to be very efficient.

Thank you for the video. May I question you on a couple of the comments you made. When a Savonious two blade type turbine is at right angles to the wind the convex surfaces creates lift from the air moving over them like a wing. There are several reputable studies showing that the torque does not drop to zero but is nearly 30% of the torque when the scoop is facing the wind. The actual efficiency is of course very much debated but NREL, a reputable National Lab, has shown it varies from about 15% to about 22% depending on the design. Also, in most of their studies, the RPM has been over 100 and closer to 150 above 33 kph (20 mph). Is that something you have seen in your studies of the area? Unfortunately there are many reports out there that are largely anecdotal and incorrect.

I am quite sceptic when there is unverifiable publication. reality based science is best science. no VAWT farm or single installation were ever profitable. as my own experiments went I never reached 10% either. of course like with everything two blade design will be superior even in VAWT but with darrieus it has problem with starting torgue thats why chinese producers marry this to small savonius inside. but its even less effective in 6-9m/s winds coz of turbulences

Please do an analysis of the ridge blade turbine. I need a bird safe turbine. Also could you place a chicken wire cage around a normal turbine without excessive force losses. Thanks.

Ive seen installations on pigeons house. this turbines has small diameter therefore birds can easily see them as an obstacle. you can see them as a wheel too. so its not dangerous to the bird. with big turbines they see nothing in front of them fly safely and then bum 300kmh blade coming from the side. thats why small turbines are not dangerous to the birds

It is also extremely gusty, which usually shortens the service life. Only if you need to be self-sufficient from the power grid, you should have the largest possible wind turbine for the winter on a high mast. *With solar modules, on the other hand, you can reliably generate green electricity for 25 years at approx. 3-10 cent/kWh!*
