A former pastor of my church once recounted how when Harold got washed out to sea, he told his kids "Don't worry. There's no body and he's not much of an actor. He'll be back." After that, every time when he walked into the living room and his kids were watching Neighbours he would always ask "Is Harold back yet?" One day he was in his study preparing his sermon when one of his kids rushed in excitedly. "Dad! Dad! Harold's back!"

Harold's come back! we were both thrilled and surprised and couldn't believe it oh what memories! But Harold has gone again tho miss him very much

To be fair though, if you watch the original 1991 episode where he goes missing, we technically don’t see what happens to him - fair enough, his glasses were left behind but you don’t see him dying or anything, so the door was left wide open. From what I understand, the show went into a massive carcrash phase between the start of the 1995 season and mid 1996 when Harold came back - they had to bring them back to bring the ratings back up

With the recent passing of this young man who starred on what was it, Home and Away, I recalled yet again that a visit to the UK had me watching a soap opera called The Neighbours, one episode each time, during visits to England. I knew it was called The Neighbours, but I would never know anything about it. I remembered this hoarse-voiced blonde woman married to this roly-poly little man in glasses (you're already there, aren't you?) When I returned, I saw the little man again, in one chance viewing, but didn't see her. Was never quite sure what was going on, but I guess that's an English soap. Well, it was an Aussie soap, anyway, but I had actually seen the intro the first time and knew I saw the Neighbours, and the intro showed the little man trimming the branch in the tree and the woman lounging beneath him and the branch falls in her lap. So there they were. Again, with the young man, Dieter Brummer, passing away, after being famous on Home and Away, I decided to look the show up. Watch a bit of it. Then I see he appeared on The Neighbours. Try to see if you can find your little couple again, however long they might have been on the show. Highly unlikely but allright. So I looked up Neighbours and found ALL the intros, and there they were, . . . . with the tree branch. Now I got their names and the characters' names, so let's go. And here they are. No, I didn't see this scene before in the UK, but I'll just say, this is truly one of the most adorable things I have ever seen. From America, kudos to the performers, being the first two people I saw on The Neighbours. I'm being told I'm misspelling Neighbours. LOL!

Madge returns in the final episode, but only as a Ghost in Susan's memories. She cries as she sees Madge (as she would be if she was still alive) watching over Harold in the final scene, and several of the other deceased residents with the still living respective family members, including Toady's ex and even Rob Mills character that tried to kill Susan (closing out Susan's main PTSD storyline of the last few seasons). It was nice, but I kinda wish they had some dialogue though.
