There are mass shooting every single day in Philly, Chicago, La, New Orleans….. every single day. Yet for some reason people want to point to school shootings as if that happens every day and not once or twice a year by a kid who’s had psych meds shoved down their throats. Are the people being killed on the streets less valuable than others?

Well, in all fairness, Pendergrass simply sang what he was given by the song's producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The song was written by the team of Gene McFadden, John Whitehead (who, as a singing duo had a big hit with the anthemic "Ain't No Stopping Us Now") and Victor Carstarphen.

@@better-dayz-r-ahead And thank YOU for knowing the difference. Anytime I write about music and artists, where applicable and given the chance, I always credit the writers and producers. All this great music is being traded, shared and sold online with nothing more than the name of the artists or group--NO mention at all of the songwriters, producers, arrangers, musicians, etc, who created the song in the first place. Without the song you've got nothing. It's a supreme injustice and a damn shame.
@better-dayz-r-ahead3 жыл бұрын
@@stannote8312 Agreed💯 Thom Bell is another acclaimed songwriter from the Philly Soul era he wrote and produced a lot of songs for The Delfonics and The Stylistics. Can’t forget about Bobby Eli and Vinnie Barrett they wrote much of Blue Magic’s early work. Also have to mention Norman Harris, Linda Creed, Dexter Wansel and a whole host of others that were part of the movement that was going on in the 70’s in the City of Brotherly Love.
@stannote83123 жыл бұрын
@@better-dayz-r-ahead Hell yes, to all of those giants, sir. Thom Bell is a beast. Bell can walk into a studio where an orchestra is playing and pick the one viola out of tune. He insisted on writing EVERY part you hear on a Thom Bell production, no matter how subtle the guitar ad-lib or position of cymbal crash. When he'd visit labels to have meetings, execs would take one look at Linda Creed and say, "You can leave your [white] girlfriend in the lobby." Bell would angrily make clear that Creed wasn't his girlfriend but his songwriting partner and tell them if she's not in the meeting, there won't be one.
