Nice one, but i would consider doing the blur of the BG in camera so that when you blend the sharp one and the blurres together, the silhouette stays sharp

Hello Mine, thank for your comment. Creating that level softness in camera while holding sharpness on the flower edges would be difficult, and might require a very shallow depth of field. This would change the effective size of the image and therefore make registration an issue. Also, one would give up the control of blending the soft blurred layer with the sharper layer, which yields a very nice look, in my opinion. Of course, in the days of film, we would do a "split diffusion" technique which required a diffusion filter over the lens, but that, of course, softened the edges also! I doubt that it would be possible to achieve by using in camera techniques without a diffusion filter. Thanks again! - Harold

Hi, Mr. Ross! Thanks for Your lessons! I can share with one lifehack that can help to avoid the dark edges around the objects after usung Gaussian blur filter on background layer. Before using the blur filter we should to make a selection of the object at first (it should be quite easy as soon the object is dark). Then we should to invese selection "Select -> Inverse", or Shift + Ctrl + I. Now we have selected only lighted background and we can apply the Gaussian blur filter. Bluring will effect only only the selected background but the edges of object will stay sharp.

Thank you very much for your comment! I'm aware of the process for eliminating that, but I actually like the dark edge around the objects. Happy New Year!
