Harold Zabrack (d.1995) was a superb pianist and dedicated composer. He is remembered as a great teacher and warm mentor to his many admiring students and associates. His piano compositions are published. We, who knew him, will never forget him.

It took me a time to engage in this piece, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it.

I listened to both Zabrack's concertos today for the first time. The "St. Louis" did not hook me. I found this one, instead, definitely compelling. Perhaps it is due to the irresistible force of the Dies Irae...
