I have the same model that was purchased in 1984 . I average 24-26 loads every fall season , and am on the second engine since 2001. It has served me well indeed !

i had one of these at my disposal at a house my family was renting. lots of leaves in the fall to deal with but it was child's play with a trac vac. my only complaint would be the dust if the wind blew it at my face.

I wonder if one of these would work for hay?

I am just curious why some people still bag leaves, I mean why not just make a mulch cover and mulch them up and keep all those nutrients in the ground for spring? Free fertilizer and much much easier!

I've been doing lawn cleanups for 13 (in southeast US) years and many of those years were bagging and many were mulching it into the lawn. The downside to mulching is that it takes many many passes to get a good fine mulch that looks clean. Many times, I have to get off the mower and "toss the salad" with the blower to bring the leaves back up and mulch them more. If the lawn is really really thick, then you can mulch them in one very easy pass. I've never had a lawn with problems from any mulched in debris except lawn clippings. They take much longer to decompose than leaves and cause fungus issues in extreme situations. The other down side to mulching is small areas. Many homes, especially in older or downtown neighborhoods, have very small lawns and yet have a lot of really big trees. Drive through a downtown neighborhood and you'll see what I mean. So at times they don't have enough lawn to mulch the leaves into. And the final problem with mulching is bare spots. There's just nowhere to hide the debris there. All in all, I tend to run over the yard mulching the leaves. But whatever is not mulched after one quick pass is easier to bag up.

If you have about a foot thick of leaves in your yard like I do there's no way you can mulch all that into the lawn.

Wish you could just buy the blower/vacuum part and build the rest yourself.
