The lack of sound clips is a huge detriment to this lecture. I'm saddened that people are so intimidated by the corporate copyright bullies. If this isn't fair use for educational purposes, nothing is.

This is a wonderful primer. A rich insight into the music (all easily available on KZbin) and the historical context. lovely. Thank you Michael Diether!

I fully concur with the comment of Reluctant Dragon. Deleting the audio clips severely defeats the effectiveness and educational purpose of the lecture in general - and that would have been achieved by hearing each short musical clip illustrating Professor Dietler's explanation immediately after the hearing Professor Dietler's explanation of it. Hunting down each full piece elsewhere is a worthy endeavor for any number of reasons separate from and other than understanding and hearing the point that Professor Dietler is trying to make. However, hunting down each full piece elsewhere is absolutely no substitute for being able to hear the short excerpt which Professor Dietler has selected to illustrate his point, immediately after hearing Professor Dietler's explanation of his point. As Reluctant Dragon so appropriately notes, if a short several note excerpt in this context (to illustrate a point in an academic musicology lecture immediately after a verbal explanation of the point the short excerpt is selected to illustrate) doesn't qualify as a fully defensible and legal "fair use", then what on earth does so qualify???
