My white grandma had such a hard time doing my hair the first 12 years. Only a few times our neighbor volunteered and did my hair. Had two french braids and ribbon from grandma. Fast forward to moving in with my black Afro-Latina mother, she was no different. Terrible. Lmao! Left at 14 and had my sister-friends do my hair and got my first press and curls.

Even though my family & I are White, I have extremely thick, curly hair that when it is long, looks just like an afro, no joke. My Mom never had the patience to care for my hair. She would break brushes on my hair. Finally, she started using the big teeth of a metal comb, & only did so after lathering my hair with 1/2 a bottle of conditioner. We made a deal, I would sit still while she attempted to comb my hair & she only had 15 minutes. I would split off the chair if she wasn't finished. Meantime, her Mom, my Grandma, would spend hours at a time brushing my hair with her hairbrush & singing to me. Not once, ever, did my Grandma hurt me while brushing my hair. What can I say, I'm my Grandma's Granddaughter; my hair was EXACTLY like hers.

These are a few that work well for her hair type: 1. Multicultural curls 2. Blueberry bliss 3. Shea moisture for thick curls The problem with curly hair is that sometimes our hair gets tired of being hydrated by the same product and it just stops working. Hope this helps!

@@bellaapple2166Her lighter hair color also reflects light differently. My son has the same color hair and hair color, and even when fully moisturized and conditioned, it tends to lack that shine that darker color hair has. That lighter color curly/kinky hair doesn't reflect the light the same way, and therefore tends to look "duller", for lack of a better word. I have to say, I have a very similar hair type to Harper and it is INCREDIBLY difficult to deal with. As a kid, it was chopped off, relaxed, chopped off again by ignorant stylists, Jerry curled, fried and even fell off, then shaved bald lol. I wish I were exaggerating. I am still struggling with it to this day. But, I did my big chop, now my hair is bra length when straightened and I’m finally relearning the texture of my hair. I literally have not seen it since I was 6 years old. I am trying everything, and when I say everything, I mean it all. I am getting there ❤ I never comment, but I adore the time and effort you put in that ultimately just demonstrates to Harper how truly beautiful her hair is and that she’s cared for. She has low porosity hair. You’re going to have to clarify her hair twice a month because low porosity hair gets buildup from all the product Also, heat is low porosity best friend. Use only warm water when washing, conditioning and styling. Get a hooded dryer, use a deep treatment mask every wash day, put her under the dryer for 20 minutes. Then when you style her hair, it has to be soaking wet. Like literally put the products in the sink. Then place her under the dryer again until her hair is 80% dry. I have low porosity hair and it a pain in the butt. But it’s worth it when you do it right. I hope this message finds you and helps you.

@@shaesun3720 that can be too. Heat expands and cold contracts. For people that have frizzier curls or curls that don’t stay defined after a day, the moisture may not be getting into the hair. I think it’s lovely that you put so much effort into your children’s hair. My mom loved doing my hair when I was little, and she had to adapt not because I had curly hair, my hair is mostly straight, but because my hair burns and tangles so easily because it’s so fine. But this is different, your children have hair with an entirely different texture and curl pattern than you, and you’re learning to care for their hair and teach them to care for it. Very wholesome.

I love Cantu products, they work great for my hair (which is similar to Harper's). Their co-wash followed by a curl cream might work wonders for Harper :)

My son’s hair is similar to Harper’s and I use the Cantu Care For Kids product line on his hair and he gets so many compliments on his curls. I love it!

Washing her hair in the sink is okay. I do the same thing. It's okay to use the different moisturizers on her hair. If it works for ya'll that's all that matters. Period. 🥰💯❤🖤💯

Harper is my favorite of the three. All of them have their grandmother's round "moon" face. I like seeing their grandmother in the videos.

Hello, Harper is sooooooo adorable!! I never comment on videos but I wanted to suggest WEN for Harper's hair. WEN is used for all hair types and has plenty of moisture for her hair. I've used it for years. Hope you find what's right for her hair.

Not weird you do her hair in kitchen sink. Its where my cousins and I had our hair done on Saturday nights by mom or Nana and we had best chats!🥰

I use the sink too. BTW, you should really get silicon mix because it works so well with curls and makes it look so silky! It smells good too.

I’m 35 but my mom never knew how to do my hair, so she cut it off… by 9 i was perming my own air…. But it all worked out because now I do hair 💪🏽…. But my question to you is, can I get a wash for the one time by a momma who understands “our” type hair 😂😂😂
