Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones Launches Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 Initiative

As part of her commitment to walkability, accessibility, and connected communities, Commissioner Lesley Briones will announce the launch of Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4: Delivering Pathways to Progress. Under the initiative, Harris County Precinct 4 will invest $20 million in sidewalk improvements throughout unincorporated Harris County.
The program will create safer paths to schools, efficient routes to hospitals and healthcare providers, walkable shopping destinations, connected parks, and solidify routes where natural footpaths already exist. It will also expand job opportunities by safely connecting residents to bus stops and over 130 businesses.
Phase 1 of the initiative is projected to be completed by 2025. The projects were identified by Precinct 4 through a data-driven analysis and from residents at various community engagement events.
