Got a lot of cottontails around here & saw one Harris this morning. I also heard another in the distance. Excellent observation, they must’ve been after one of the cottontails.

I've never known that birds can hunt cooperatively. Kinda feel sorry for that rabbit, it was none too fat, I don't think he or she had an easy life out there.

That's the usual body of a jack rabbit. Those skinny legs of theirs are used to run at high speed in a dessert terrain.

You're right it was not too fat, but lagomorphs in general don't get fat. In general their meat is so lean that if you eat it constantly, you need an additional source of lipids.

Interesting, too, is that they not only hunt, as a group, but will share among the hunting group AND the chicks... rather unusual behaviour, outside of mammals!!

Hunting in small groups actually is fairly common amongst animals , it’s organized hunting than is rare in non-mammalian species

XD It's a staged event to show HOW the hawks cooperate to make a kill in the wild. Don't You think that filming entire chasing process from all angles would be a bit difficult in the wild? We're talking flying birds, not lions, tigers, wolves or hyenas, whose hunting strathegy can easily be filmed by the crew. It's much harder to keep a track on birds than it is to for big mammals
