First of all, it's a private Catholic liberal arts college, it's not exactly Harvard, it's not where people typically go to set themselves up for a career. It's usually where people go to learn more theology and philosophy. Jobs in those areas are few and far between and usually pay crap. Secondly, it's a CATHOLIC college. The traditional Catholic view is that the typical role of a woman is as a wife and mother. Those people chose to go to a Catholic college, they are probably Catholic, do you think that was the first time they heard that? Why do you think everyone applauded? You think a woman being a wife and mom is giving up on her dreams? What if that is her dream? Maybe that sounds better than slaving for corporate overlords.
