I'm a housewife and love it. I get to make sure our home is clean when my husband comes home. I get to cook for him and fix his plate. And yes, I love it! I love when he smiles and says thank you. I love when he eats and says he would rather have my cooking over fast food, any day. I love the way he brags about the things I do and how great my cooking is, to his co-workers and friends. We live within our means. My children are grown so we live in a one bedroom apartment, love being home over restaurants, concerts, ect. Our cars aren't new but paid for. We have a few name brand brand clothes, we got second hand and only wear when we do go out, other than that we dress nice but wear cheaper clothes. We aren't ashamed of any of it. You can't take a big house with you when you leave this earth. You can't take those fancy cars, clothes, ect. My husband also loves being able to support us. So, it's a little sad at the moment because I have to go get a little job to help financially due to the economy causing us to have to use credit cards for groceries and gas over holding them for emergencies. We always take one vacation a year to the beach and wasn't able to do that this year. He always keeps rent paid months in advance just in case something happens. He's only one month ahead now due to needing the money he would usually use on rent to pay on the credit cards. And when I say we live within our means, I'm not kidding. We don't pay anyone to do anything we can do ourselves. We don't pay for expensive cable, we have a few streaming services. So, instead of $200+, we pay about $30 for that and wifi. We don't need a house phone, he has a cell number and I use mine on wifi while home. So, once the economy is back to better than this BS, being a housewife is possible if you know how to be happy without all these worldly things. Now, we have game systems and things, we aren't boring. lol. I'm on my laptop now. But we get things for our entertainment, when we can. These things aren't priority. Some women love having careers and I wish them the best. But I love being a housewife and I should have that choice but the democratic party is taking that choice away from me. Love ya Van!

I’m a woman. I’m 56. I’m not married and I don’t have children. I have a great career. However, not having a family of my own is the greatest regret of my life. I’m not speaking for all women but I know I’m not alone. Both Houda and Jenna may be married and have kids but they are definitely not raising their children. There are many who are bitter and nasty to other women for making a traditional choice, but I think this is out of jealousy.

Im a grandma and I advise young people to forgo the big house and the expensive car and try to base your bills off of one income. Then if a woman wants to stay home she can do it. Ask yourself, when you are old at the end of your life, what is going to be more meaningful for you: the titles and awards you received at your job or the children you nurtured to adulthood? They are mad because he's right. When I was staying at home with my daughter, I can't count the women who told me they envied me and would stay at home with their children if they thought they could afford it. Women get plenty of support snd encouragement to put their kids in day care and work. Wouldn't it be wonderful if women got that much support and encouragement to be mothers?

If we went back to the 50s and before generations where mother stayed home, dad‘s would work and children were taken care of by their mother and couldn’t wait for daddy to get home from work. I watched the entire speech. As a 50 year old woman, this is my take. Like it or not. He was speaking at a Private Catholic University. One would assume that the women graduating follow that faith. In today's society, women that choose to be a stay at home mother/wife as talked poorly of. Told they don't think or speak for themselves. I am one of the lucky women that had a husband that stood behind OUR decision for me to be a stay at home mom until our children were in school. He worked multiple jobs to make ends meet while still being a parent that was at every school meeting, boy scout events, doctors appointments and school field trips. He also stood by me while I went back to work in a male dominated industry as a stage manager and bouncer at a concert venue. The only female to ever hold those positions in that venue. He is now standing beside me as I am a full time care giver to my mother in her final years. Me being home enabled me to be home when that man suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm while getting ready to work. Had I been at work, he would no longer be alive. It also enabled me to be in his hospital room when he had a stroke 10 days later. He wasn't hooked up to the monitors because he was walking into the bathroom. He couldn't reach the emergency cord in the bathroom. The doctors and nurses had just left his room moments before this. I heard him and saved his life. He tells everyone who will listen that if it weren't for me, he wouldn't be here. Much like this young man said if it weren't for his wife he wouldn't be where he was. He was praising her for keeping his mind straight and making sure he is the best at his job while not losing sight of what matters most in life... ..family and love. Those designer hand bags aren't going to be by your side when your time on Earth is done.

I love the speech . I have been married for 42 years . I am 58 mother of 5 children and have 6 grandchildren. I do work but my most important job was to my children and husband. You are totally right. Unfortunately I believe women thoughts today contribute to the divorce rate. Keep things God's s way., and there is always a balance. You can do everything just not at once. But you cannot, go back in time and raise your kids when you want, that bond will not be there. Everybody has to make their own choice. I know I got a lot of back lash from women who put their careers first. I have No regrets!

This commencement speech was at a traditional Catholic college. It’s nothing like the other Catholic colleges out there. They hold firm to Catholic tradition. This is why he felt comfortable speaking to these graduates in the way that he did. Yeah actually did not tell these girls, that they should not pursue their goals, but to fulfill their location in life. Even stated that many will go on to have good careers.A vocation in life is something that is different than a career. That is what he was addressing. A vocation is something that is from God.

I think a lot of women would want to stay home with the kids and keep the home front humming. Until the economy & jobs changed drastically. It used to be that Dad worked & they were able to own a home, car, vacations etc. Now it’s harder & women now have 2 full time jobs!

if you have anger and hatred in your heart, you will get angry with this speech. I think young women should go to college and get educated because being a mother requires it now days. When your kids are in school it will benefit you to be educated you will also have more respect from your children when they know you are educated. My wife was the valedictorian of her high school and graduated the top of her class in her medical program (Summa Cum Laude). She is extremely intelligent highly skilled and well respected by all. She is not arrogant and self-centered, and her highest desire was to be married and to be a mother. She put aside a promising career and went forward in college by having children. She went ahead kept in school and our first born was born on Friday and my wife was back in school on Monday. Her professors and teachers and pears were all angry with her and told her she was selling herself short. She was focused and continued her education and graduated that semester with the highest-grade average of anyone in her graduating class. Most of those degrading her for her decision are now childless while my wife sits in a room with her 6 children and 4 grandchildren (many more hopefully to come) and beams. You go for that career and see where it leads you, loneliness sorrow and more anger. She stayed home and only worked when needed and volunteered at easter seals and helped down syndrome children. Now that our children are raised, she helps people with their wounds. She has lived her life in service to her children and those needing care and I find it so sad to hear these women saying how angry they are to hear the truth. Your greatest happiness will come from your family.

Everything. The university, students, crowd, the speaker himself……. This wasn’t a national or worldwide speech. If you don’t have the same values or actually have a relationship with one of the graduates, why are you even watching this? Why do you care? Religion.. I call myself Christian but I'm actually spiritual. I don't believe Jesus was religious, while living as a human. He was spiritual. Being spiritual is believing in our master and having a personal relationship with him. I think Catholics may do the confessions the way they do because it forces you to speak them out loud. I could be wrong, I'm not catholic. But I have read, in the bible, that God wants us to pray in a silent place so that we can connect with him, one on one. Nothing wrong with praying together for one thing because the more that come together in prayer, the louder we are. But, he wants that personal relationship with us.
