I was thinking the exact same thing! A lot of actors become disillusioned, indifferent, or even resentful of their work; especially pieces that come to define their careers & image. But you can tell that Harrison feels genuine pride for his work as Indy - even after all these years, and immense respect for the film as a whole. I'm glad. He deserves to be proud of it.

Actually Harrison likes that character, which is one reason he wants to do one last movie as Indy* (to get the bad taste of the last one out his and our mouths). It's his Han Solo character that he really dislikes (though us fans love it more than anything!) * At an on-stage event right after Indy 4 came out he said he really wants to do another one, but that "this time we won't be going to Mars" which was a jab at the sci-fi angle that the last one had.

Every detail of that film is well made and works perfectly. It's a case study in how good a film can be when EVERYONE straight up nails their job... Direction, script, cinematography, score, acting, stunts, effects, editing, costume design, set design... I don't care what detail you drill down to on this film, you find someone kicking ass at their job.

The Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack is genuinely epic, all it of beautiful and rousing. For me, perhaps the most haunting is The Map Room : Dawn, when Indy and Sallah and are trying to find the exact location of the Well of the Souls without drawing the attention of the Nazis. PS At the end of Washington Ending & Raiders March, the theme starts again in a limited way. Most people would have left the cinema by that time, but those who stayed behind get this little post-credits bonus. It's wonderfullly warm and leaves a smile one your face.

What pleases me more than anything about that clip is that, unlike the Oscar telecasts, he wasn't reading off some damn cue card, eyes transfixed like some zombie. Those were his words, eloquent, erudite, and completely in the moment.

One thing I have noticed in all award shows is: "The celebrities are always praising each other". This should raise question. While in general award like "Legion Of Merit" it is not so.

John is one of the greatest composers to ever walk this earth, and he's clearly inspired the next generation of film composers like Brian Tyler, and even the brand new composers just getting into film composing as well. These movies are absolutely nothing without John Williams.

My then-girlfriend and I were in a restaurant at the same time as Harrison Ford during the filming of Patriot Games, and as we were leaving, my girlfriend thought it would be funny if she whistled the theme music. I can confirm, based entirely on the look of utter rage that flashed across Ford's face at that moment, that the first thing he says here is not a joke.

I read that John Williams said INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY will be his final film. I think that’s a wonderful and affectionate closure for John, Harrison, and Steven (even though he isn’t directing-it’s his baby).

I don't think its an exaggeration to say that John Williams will be viewed as the 20th Century's #1 film composer. History will look back at music, specifically classical music in its eras with stand alone compositions, opera and then film. When the 22nd Century rolls into existence film composition will likely be seen as important as any opera from our present day history. John Williams will be as well known as JS Bach or George Fredrick Handel. (...or by the 22nd Century, people will look at movies as being part of "20th Century nonsense.")

He could’ve smacked a joke at the end to stroke his ego, but he praised the artist for his work, and that speaks a different kind of volume. I like to shit on Hollywood but John’s expressions means a lot to me.
