What does that have to do with anything? Not a secret that he doesn't like his character he played in Star-Wars, and I get it, Han Solo is not a very interesting character, he has played a lot of better roles, but they all end up in the shadow of Han Solo because Star-Wars.
@fifthrider6 жыл бұрын
A few years ago I recall an interview with Ford where he said Han Solo was his least favorite character to play. He cited reasons like "He's got no momma, he's got no pappa" or something like that. I was always sorry to hear that since we fans love Solo so much, but I've seen the same thing from Bill Murray who loves attention from the fans but really can't stand Ghostbusters or Peter Venkman. The kindest thing he ever said was how the first half of the first Ghostbusters movie was his favorite, meaning only the scenes starring him. Narcissists, the both of them.

Guarantee he really doesn't. I mean I can guarantee it. Let's say you had a job, doing anything, no matter how important or menial, just a job. And that job was like 40 years ago, and lasted a few years, maybe 6 or 8 years. Those people you worked with, do you even remember them now? People don't seem to understand that these things are only really important to US, the movie-goers, the fans. They aren't nearly as important to the stars, who are just doing their job. To them it's a job, even for someone like Al Pacino doing scent of a woman. You think he really misses any of his co-stars from that movie? Now, from time to time when you work somewhere, you might meet someone you really get along with. And you might form a friendship that lasts beyond that job. These are rare. And this did not happen with the stars of these movies. They worked together for a few years, and then went their separate ways. When he heard she had died, I bet he was a little melancholy, a little sad for her and her family, and then got on with his shopping or whatever
@magacaleb47636 жыл бұрын

@w0bbl3r6 жыл бұрын
Do you still meet up with people you worked with 40 years ago? I know I don't. If these people weren't famous and on the tv and in movies all the time, I bet they would be the same as me and not even recognise a lot of the people from that long ago. I pass people all the time who I seem to recognise but don't remember their names or exactly where it was I worked with them. It's only because these people have been forced together throughout the years for work that they still see each other. It is extremely rare for people who work together to carry on a relationship outside of work, especially years after that job has finished. People don't even hold onto friends for that long, because people just come and go and you don't really care.

It was a nice speech and typical Harrison. I don't think he really likes doing speeches and interviews. He always seems a bit gruff and uncomfortable. I know that some of that is just his personality, but imo, that very personality trait is what makes it even more special that he did come out to give a speech for Mark's star. It's basically saying, "I have a hard time doing something like this, but for you I will do it." As for the laughter after Carrie's name was mentioned: I don't think he meant it as a joke or reference, but I think saying "I feel her presence" around a bunch of Star Wars fans is inevitably going to cause some of them to think "Hey, kind of like with the Force!" I imagine that is why a few people laughed a little. I bet many of them probably laughed and then immediately thought "Ooh, I probably shouldn't have laughed there." But hey, who hasn't had a nervous laugh at an inappropriate time in their life?

That was genuine. At the end he meant what he said about Mark Hamill keeping it together and leading his own life. Not all movie stars can do that. Also, Harrison Ford clearly is an old school Hollywood star, he does not act, but remembers the lines and is simply himself when he says them. No doubt decent script writers just tune in to his personality and write dialogue to match. A proper star just like those from the 1930s to the 1960s. Will we see their like again? I think we need the gifted script writers back too. No more CGI computer games masquerading as films, we want plot, dialogue, theatricality and presence!

I agree it would have been nice, but it wasn't part of the narrative. I think the writers did a great job fitting in the original cast. Let's not get too sentimental, and nostalgic, we need to remember that Harrison Ford had not been enthusiastic about being in a Star Wars film since the 1977 original film release. His character had to be written as essentially dead, frozen in carbonite, because he had his reservations of being in a third film. Now, let's also remember that Star Wars evolved to be bigger than Luke and Leia. It's about Anakin Skywalker, and the reverberating effects of his actions within and throughout the generations of his family. I realized that when I saw Return of the Jedi for maybe the hundredth time. I finally realized that Obi Wan and Darth Vader were the key figures in this trilogy. As we later saw in the Prequels, Lucas expanded the narrative of these two characters, and now, we have an expanded narrative on the lives of these characters we followed in the original trilogy. So, as we only saw Obi Wan and Darth Vader as proponents/opponents of Luke, we later learned that they were so much more, had been through so much more. We can consider ourselves lucky, our generation had the original films as young children, experienced the magic, were able to grow and analyze these films as adults, while also being able to see the stories of the Anakin and Obi Wan adventures as adults, to understand the internal drama the two "brothers" dealt with. Now, as even more mature and polished Star Wars fans, we are able to see how the lives of our original trilogy heroes played out, to see how leaders of a rebellion deal with the actions that were necessary for them to carry out a cause that was almost entirely built on Hope. It's more interesting that it did not end up just happily ever after, don't you agree? I think it is quite exciting to see and learn about Ben Solo, and his struggle with dealing with his bloodline. Episode IX is shaping up to be an epic conclusion to the Skywalker family saga! And for the record, I didn't watch TFA to see Daisy or John either. I went to see the continuation of the Skywalker family saga. And it has been building up to a great climax. Does anyone else get the feeling that Ben Solo dies in episode IX? I just think this chapter of Star Wars closes out the Skywalker lineage...from a certain point of view. Take care everyone, I love all the mature dialogue our love of Star Wars creates!

yeah, he just seems a little uncomfortable, but the speech is completely genuine. I don't think he kept looking at the notes because he needed a script, but just because it helps if you aren't great with public speaking. Sure, he is an actor, but that doesn't mean he's built for public speaking

Great Scott, three minutes of Harrison Ford speaking in front of people?! This footage belongs in a museum! He's certainly come a ways with interviews and public speaking. Shia LaBeouf got one thing right: He's the Man's Man. Harrison just carries such a presence... ...Mark's a great guy too! Weird that it took so long for him to get a star. He may not have gone on to be a badass archaeologist, but Mark's a talented chap. His voice work speaks for itself.

For those baffled by the laughter and cheers at the mention of Carrie, It's clearly because a bunch of Star Wars fanatics heard the word "Presence" as in "Presence in the force". Likely a bunch of star wars fans leapt at the chance of seeing two of the cast members together and got carried away in their own hysteria.

The chemistry of the original Star Wars "trio" is legendary and can be felt here. We were sold three Star Wars sequels that had these actors signed on and they didn't give them one scene together...not a flashback, not a dream sequence, not a normal scene. The people who made these sequels, most importantly Kathleen Kennedy and J.J. Abrams, who are the ones who killed off Han Solo before he could meet up with Luke again, do not understand and do not respect Star Wars or its fans. They are people who took the job for the paycheck and nothing else.

If only we had seen like this in the sequel films where Han talks to Luke on the island about all the good and joy he has spread across the galaxy. they embrace and Luke rejuvenated in the force comes to the aid of the resistance in person. Such a simple moment could have made the sequels so much more heartwarming.

I think we've kind-of got to read between the lines here... Harrison is well-known for being reticent to speak off-the-cuff in public; it's clearly something he struggles with and is, as a rule, very much outside of his wheelhouse. Carrie, on the other hand, was a complete natural at improv and wordsmithery - metaphorically speaking she dipped events like this in her borscht and guzzled the results with gay abandon. In an ideal world, it would have been her giving this speech - however this is not an ideal world and she couldn't be there. That Harrison stepped up to give it his best shot in Carrie's absence was all kinds of heartwarming.
