Harrisonburg is not the epicenter of The Shenandoah Valley. Everything west of The Massanutten is THE Shenandoah Valley. Nothing else! Harrisonburg is at the south end of The Shenandoah Valley. The south end...not the epicenter!!!

I grew up on Pike church road in Harrisonburg in the 1980s and the 1990s but I moved away in 2000 when I was 18. It has changed a lot since my growing up years. It's not the same place anymore. I haven't been back to visit since 2010 but in just that 10 years it changed so much. Too many damn Yankees and tourists

The answer to this question depends on what you consider “dead”. I would say Harrisonburg is definitely not dead, it depends on how you want to live and what you want to do.
