I have a Harris Calorific cutting torch that uses the same system and is from roughly the 1920s. It looks like it got run over by a truck (and may have) but sealed perfectly when I pressure tested it using nitrogen at 200 psi! It cuts just fine. You can recognize them by the torch head which has not changed because it never needed to. Injector torches began in the era of (very) low pressure acetylene from carbide gas generators (Rexarc still make the same style they did a century back) because they can use very low fuel gas pressures.

The 72-3 is an equal pressure torch, which means it will mix the gases equally in a 1 to 1 ratio. It can be used with alternate fuels if you use an NX tip but you won't see the same performance as with an injector torch. If you are looking to upgrade your attachment to an injector style you should consider the 49-3F.

I am always making something, Most of it from scrap. My next bigger project is a coal/wood burner from new steel. Last bigger project I made a loader bucket. I have a lot of videos on KZbin.

What kind of projects are you using them for?

Once you use this type of torch, You will never use anything else.
