@@getchasome6230 My original comment did not point to this one particular vehicle, I mentioned 'Has anyone thought of selling the vehicles' As for the commentary, there was no commentary at all, even the description below the video does not say this vehicle was junk. It just mentions they got a court order to crush the Transit Van. I guessed you saw this in the video because of not having a brain. Please watch the video again to clarify this.

Here's a novel idea. If councils really want to cut down on fly tipping, why don't they provide the facilities for people to be able to legitimately dispose of waste without any hassle, instead of putting endless obstacles in their way? I'm not condoning fly tipping but there would be no incentive to do it if councils provided proper waste disposal facilities in the first place.

Hi Jay. Thanks for adding the comment. The vehicle was not in good condition, nor in any fit state to be sold, without extensive work being carried out. The law allows us to seize/dispose/destroy any vehicle involved in environmental crime. We felt crushing the van also sent out a strong message in terms of how seriously we take the problem of fly-tipping and the actions we are prepared to take. It costs us £40,000 a year to clean up the waste illegally dumped across Harrogate district. We would struggle to re-coup that cost by selling seized vehicles and so, unfortunately, the financial burden is borne by the many tax payers across the district. ^Andy
