Not at all you have to put yourself in his shoes he is like a general or field Marshall.. To have the squaddie on one hand ask extremely basic but relivant questions and the general on the other hand thinking how to answer in a simplistic way when he probably has a very interesting and detailed answer. Surely it would be better for a like for like interview. The taliban are the greatest warriors since the Mongols and anyone fighting will loose.. My grandfather fought them in the 1920,'s that 100 years ago and lost.. We have a photo in our house of the Afghanistan boarder written by the British Empire Government....' It is Apsolutely Forbidden For any British Subject to Enter Afghanistan " I think that tells you enough... My question would be simply" at what point did we change from your friend to become your enemy and why? "Then I would ask how. Can I become your friend, what can I do you be excepted as say a tourist into your great country?

ABS3P basically every “terrorist” organisation in the Middle East has links to America and American funding. Take a look at bin laden. He was so close to america in the 70s and 80s such that he was described as a patriot by American newspapers for fighting soviets. But for some odd reason the government never showed us his body... must be living in Cancun

What surprises me is that the British Soldier even went there to interview him in the first place. Pretty misjudged and a bit muggy. It looked like an exercise in approval-seeking from somebody who would never respect the western armed forces, its soldiers or societies and cultures they come from. What a waste of time. This ex-marine guy seems a good sort but a bit naive. I’ve seen him on other stuff and I like the dude. I was quite surprised by this.

Respect isn't given with a lie. You owe truth to fellow warriors I feel. Yiu dont have to go full haram on the brit but yo7 coyld say "you were invaders, I have a detailed perspective on the numbers of my brothers you have killed and for that i can never forgive you" or something to that effect. If you can't respect the guys overwhelming killing your troops because let's be honest they lost way more per man, then your just a pretty shitty commander. What's more the most harrowing thing to me in this was the fact the British solider can face an enemy commander and actually be honest. I know which one I'd much rather fight...

@ShiftCtrl85 sounds like a dumb yank to me, of course no country respected britain, and colonizing was what any powerful european country was doing, difference being the british empire was the best at it and that is such bullshit that they left things worst of then when they came they spread science, industry, trade , transport, sport, democracy and general order across the globe, It was also instrumental in abolishing slavery but that doesnt fit your agenda. A world without the british empire definitely wouldnt be better no matter how much you want to cry about 200 years ago.

The Taliban Commander made the most poignant comment: there were only a few thousand Taliban in Afghanistan until Guantanamo Bay opened. As a response there were hundreds of thousands of Taliban. Can you blame the guy for not giving credit to the British? What's their to give credit? I mean I understand the respect and honour thing in battle but times have changed from the sword and horse days. If you fight with a shield and a sword, face to face, in other words, a fair fight like gun vs gun face to face... That's real respect and honour. Nowadays war is unfair, a guy sitting in his office can press a button and guess what? Kill a few dozen people with a drone strike...? And majority of the time innocent die over "collateral" damage? Lack of respect for human life. And you expect the guy to be sitting there congratulating you for an honourable and brave battle? It's no wonder he didn't reply to your question. We no longer have respect, honour or bravery. Just hate and dishonest

A good soldier will always respect his enemy. A bad soldier often doesn't. Sees them as dirt and subsequently underestimates them. This was the mistake of Western forces in Afghanistan and in early 2000s policy. You declare "war on terror" and you immediately turned thousands of Taliban into hundreds of thousands of Taliban. Because all of a sudden you have turned them from tribal farmers into holy warriors through your own words. At this moment you have lost the war. Lost before it even started. 20 years later and you realise this. Trillions lost and thousands perished.

@@alexhicks6207 You're talking about Operation Cyclone right? I won't say you're wrong because you're not, but the Mujahideen formed the Taliban after US funding had ended. The Taliban was formed during 1994, while US funding had ended in 1989. Also, while we're on the topic, the Mujahideen were freedom fighters against the tyrannical Soviet-sponsored government that took hold after the Soviets invaded in 1979 after a Soviet sponsored coup resulted in the expulsion of the ruling king. The Red Army organized massive massacres in villages, bombed populated city centers, and much more. The Mujahideen had risen before the US started sponsoring them. To characterize the Mujahideen as terrorists is also a folly because the majority of the Mujahideen also formed the Northern Alliance which fought against the Taliban during the two Afghani Civil Wars preceding the US invasion. Also remember that the US invaded Afghanistan and toppled the oppressive Taliban government because they refused to hand over Osama Bin Laden after 9/11. It wouldn't make much sense to topple your best friends government.

I think what’s missed here is the fact that for Jason, the fight was over. He’s retired from the military, he’s had time to look back and reflect and he’s not got any motive to dislike this man any longer. For the Taliban leader.. it’s not over. He’s still Taliban, he’s still putting his life on the line, and the Taliban isn’t a ‘Job’, you dont retire from it - if this was aired with him saying, ‘I thought you Brits were very impressive, hats off’, he’d probably be in a body bag within the week. Never the less, I feel sorry for Jason because I bet a comment like the one I gave above would definitely be a monumental moment for him.

The basic principle with regard to jihaad is that it is fard kifaayah, i.e. if a sufficient number of people undertake this duty, then there is no sin on the rest of the community. If it is fard kifaayah, then the mujaahid is obliged to seek permission before going for jihaad. He has to seek his parents’ permission if they are Muslim, regardless of whether they are rich or not and regardless of whether they can do without his help or not, because the texts clearly state that he has to seek his parents’ permission. One such text was reported in al-Saheehayn from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr, who said that a man came to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for permission to go for jihaad. He said, ‘Are your parents still alive?’ [The man said] ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Then your jihaad is with them.’ Imaam Ahmad, Abu Dawood and Ibn Hibbaan narrated from Abu Sa’eed that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent a man who had made hijrah from the Yemen back to his parents. He (the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)) said, ‘Did they give you permission?’ [The man] said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘Go back to them and seek their permission, and if they give you permission, then go for jihaad, otherwise honour and respect them.’ The above applies in cases where jihaad has not become obligatory on every single person, i.e., fard ‘ayn. If jihaad becomes fard ‘ayn, then it is not obligatory to seek permission, because in the case of things which are fard ‘ayn, there is no need to seek the permission of anyone. Jihaad becomes fard ‘ayn when a person is in the battlefield, if the enemy invades a Muslim country, if the imaam appoints a person or urges him to fight, or if his particular skills are needed because he has good knowledge of military matters or weapons and so is needed by the mujaahideen, and there is no one else with this knowledge or these skills. And Allaah knows best.

It is a British mentality to ask that kind of question, when Britain couldn't defeat Nepal, they asked to recruit from their men, and have done so up to this day, and they're very proud of the Ghurkas, as are the Nepalese. Perhaps it was too soon, not appropriate to ask that question, but the British respect fire and treat war clinically and ferociously; there's a reason the British are known for their training and special forces. When a British special forces soldier tells you your force fought well, and looks to see if you can hold his eye and field a warriors respect - and you can't, then you're afraid, for whatever reason that may be.

Many soldiers who’ve served in Afghanistan say precisely the same thing: they had no idea what they were supposed to be doing there. No idea who or where the enemy was. They were shaking hands with villagers who were farmers by day and Taliban by night. This is no slight in the professionalism of the serving soldiers. Politicians have a long history of sending ill-equipped troops into crazy, unwinnable foreign wars. Afghanistan and Iraq were the most recent examples. They say history will be our only judge. Blair, Brown and Bush are languishing in the dustbin of history. Their war on terror massively multiplied the problem and created ISIS, which directly led to war in Syria. The soldier in this video is very naïve to hope for some respect from his Talib counterpart. He would do well to consider the bigger picture and learn from the answers he did receive.

They were not invited into government by the Afghan people and a large proportion of Afghans opposed them, especially Uzbeks and Tajiks. And I'm sure Pakistanis are welcoming but my point is that Afghanistan is not their country. They are foreigners there too. @Callum Holmes Dude the Taliban ran the Afghan government. They had ruled Afghanistan until the US entered and destroyed the legitime Afghan government. And do you know how they rose to power? They took control of the government, after they have destroyed the communist government installed by the Soviet Union through a military coup. The only legitimate government of Aghanistan, aside from the Taliban government, was the royal government many decades ago before the Soviet coup. The Kingdom of Afghanistan and the Taliban government were the only legitimate ones that were not installed by foreign powers, but both the current government and the communist one were created by outside powers. So yes, even though they are to extreme in some aspects in my opinion, THEY ALONE are the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan no matter what you might think about them ideologically.

@Callum Holmes Conspiracy theory? So the Soviet invasion was just a conspiarcy theory? Their coup was just a conspiracy theory? WW2 was a conspiracy theory, too? This is history man it happened. And they are terrorists? The Taliban have never fought outisde of their own country. ISIS are terrorists. they have planted bombs in God knows how many countries. During the Talibans reign, compared to Soviet era or todays era, Afghanistan enjoyed stability. They have disarmed the population, pacifed the warlords, ended the drup production etc. Nothing any other government managed to establish. And I have never heard anything about slave markets. I have just searched for it and found basically nothing. I want to see a valid source as proof. Otherwise I accuse you of lying and spreading misinformation. And stoning people to death happens in Saudi, Arabia and the UAE aswell. Both are and have always been close allies to both the UK and the USA. Hypocriscy at its finest, if you ask me. Different countries, different cultures. Who is giving you the right to go to war for that? How much damage is dealt, because of that? You say the Taliban are terrosists? I say, they are less violent then both the USA and the UK. The Taliban did not invade other mans country. They have not thrown bombs into other peoples houses. Something both the USA and UK did and the Soviets aswell. Even though the Taliban have been no threat what so ever. If you dislike their culture you are free not to go there, but it is the right of every nation, of every culture, of every civilization to choose their own paths. If the Taliban would act like ISIS and kill all around the globe, fine. If they would invade other countires (like the soviets, UK and USA) fine. But they have done nothing like that. They simply kicking the butts of those who came to destroy their houses. And they winning. And they have all the right to.

Actually, a fair number of the Taliban's members were Pakistani or Bengali in origin. So it wasn't THEIR land, but they agreed with them ideologically. In fact the Taliban even ended up in Pakistan (that's when Malala was shot). What does that tell you about what they were really there to do?
@SK-xp9xi
@SK-xp9xi 3 жыл бұрын
@Callum Holmes thousands of them fled because of the wars. Russia, usa, and now nato. Reply when you have gotten rid of the taliban with your art of the state weapons and 20+ country’s combined. Lmao you make them mountain people laugh 🤣 nato are cowards. Your own royals fled your country, what the fuck are you talking about? Crack pot

@@SK-xp9xi Oh, so the Taliban had a "holy cause" now, did they? Like cheering whenever there was a terror attack in a European country that wasn't even at war with them? Committing genocide against the few remaining Buddhist and Hindu populations still living in Afghanistan (who were there since before the word "Islam" or the name "Muhammad" had even been heard on the face of the earth, if you want to talk about whose land it is)? Slaughtering Christians for the crime of being born into a different religion? Slitting the throats of aid workers for using the sciences they so manifestly reject? Or maybe shooting Malala and other schoolgirls who thought they might like to have an education is your idea of "holiness"? If you think that the Taliban have such just and noble causes, don't argue with strangers behind your laptop. Go and join them and see how long you last. Meanwhile, many other Muslims are heading to the West that you hate so much in order to escape the horrors I've just described. By contrast, the only people from the West who move to Afghanistan (aside from journalists and aid workers) are terrorists (who kill journalists and aid workers). What does that tell you exactly? (Feel free to wait another week before answering, if you like. They're quite tough questions, I know.)

You can respect your enemy as warfighters, but not as people, theirs a difference, they both are in the same job. Think for an example of a colleague who you might absolute hate, however if that colleague was distinguished at their job, you can still respect them in that sense, just not as a human being. I’m sure many allied fighters respected the hell out of how the nazis fought, just not as people. Respect can also mean taking an enemy seriously, if you’re fighting a weak force, you likely won’t respect them enough to give a shit.
