Dickie Bird is the greatest umpire that's ever lived and has put Barnsley on the map. Lots of my ancestors and my late grandad was from Barnsley and i'm very proud of their roots and the town's heritage.

Thanks Dickie for Memories of your great Career and so many great Players you met and played with. Seeing Geoff Boycott as a youngster would have been interesting. Dickie displayed considerable arrogance on occasions. He was lucky not to have been around in the era of 'reviews' as I suspect he would have been shown to be just as human as most other umpires.

best umpire ever 🙏 my father say yesterday when eng vs aus take and show a clock named Dickie bird my father said that you know who is this then he say that search about him you can’t see this type of strick umpire he cut the hair of sunny gavaskar🤪🤣
