This isn’t Maurice Murphy. Great trumpet player though it is. I have the CD of Maurice Playing it with the Leyland DAF Band. As far as I know he never recorded it twice.

That would explain things. Maurice had the ability to play with all the “fire” of a mariachi cat. Here I was left wondering why, if capable of that sort of sound and nuance, he would choose to play it with such flat and clean classical tone.
