Out of the PC games, CoS is definitely the best one. 1. SO many wizard cards and secret areas to find! 2. Well designed levels (Spongify challenge!). 3. Lots of cheats. I loved activating debug mode and then using ghost mode, changing into different characters, going to Privet Drive, etc. 4. Amazing soundtrack. 5. Running around the Slytherin common room when the polyjuice potion wore off was so much fun! I liked trying to get out of the room without anyone seeing me, and I also liked trying to get EVERYONE to see me! 6. Decent gameplay length (first and third game were very short).

I can tell by how the Prisoner of Azkaban played, that it probably left sales low; and so they tried a different approach: But good gods the age definitely shows when the creators of these games were definitely losing their edge. I wasn't even 5 minutes in and I could tell this is going to be one headache of a game: And I was right. The camera angle is atrocious - the last three gave you free camera control but this looks like you don't have any control over the camera at all; it's always in cinematic mode. Plenty of games have had this camera angle and it was rather popular at the time, and works well when you want to have a shmup or hack'n'slash or even a Beat'em'Up style game. Something with a lot of action clearly put into it. But here, it looks atrocious because these games have a history of being puzzle solvers and platforming: the lack of control makes it rather difficult to do either of those things; which only tells me that this game is probably very linear and doesn't encourage a free open roam style play. Contrast to the other three. The spell casting - I can understand that with this being their 4th year, you shouldn't have to flip through a spell book and choose specific spells by this point since they should have plenty of spells that they can do at a whim: having learned many over the course of their first three years, but it looks like none of them do anything different besides defeat the enemies in a stylized manor. In the previous games every spell had a specific way to defeat their corresponding foes and challenges. If they wanted to open up the use of puzzles and spells to make it more mature rate of game: then they could easily have given each character a list of spells designated for them. Harry being the best at DATDA spells, making him the best at taking out multiple enemies. Hermione being the best at the platform and puzzle based solution spells. And Ron being good at crowd controlling and setting up enemies to be defeated more easily by this point - considering it is his second year having a PROPER wand (Wink to you lore fans out there) having some of the more diverse methods to thwart his foes due to all of his brother's family influence. But because any of them should be able to do all the same spells regardless, it just makes them all feel like the same character no matter whom you pick. Which is kind of depressing when you think about it. While the graphics look moderately okay at the time (As third gen was pretty much on the way at this point) it stands out as being so drastically different that you can't even admire the visuals you are seeing because of the previously mentioned camera style. What good is having a bunch of arguably beautiful visuals, if I have to strain myself to get into a proper camera spot to see something? Around this time there was the Warrior Games also existing for a good while of time (Dynasty, Samurai, Warriors Orochi) which all show that the previous camera method of the last three games could do well in showing off visuals as well as dealing with multiple enemies to fight. Someone also mentioned that this looked very WoW like, but even those games allowed you to look Up and Down as well as rotate the camera. But to get off of the camera angle subject again - The mere fact this is not a open roam style of game is very disappointing. With the options to now EXPLORE the black lake, go into the maze, and even fight off a Dragon Boss that involves Harry flying around on his broom around the castle for a good portion; there is so much on the visual basis that could have left people wanting to roam these parts for HOURS. I remember some of the best times I had in each game - was just looking at everything with each new update. Prisoner of Azkaban having the best overall visuals at the time: left me feeling breathless with just sitting on Buckbeak in the air looking at everything. If this game had given you that same type of freedom, I would have just wanted to explore the outer parameters of the castle as they just make it look more and more stunning with each graphical upgrade. But with the style of game that it chose to be instead, you lose out on ALL of the visual experience of this magical world. And the excuse to make it Multiplayer...Oh my goodness how this could have been an exciting entry for the Multiplayer roaming around in that 3D world previously fantasized. Instead, we get something like Shrek the 4th (which I know wasn't out at this point if my memory serves me correctly). Now it's just a cluster filled puzzle solver of everyone wanting to run every which way...only for no one to get anywhere. Way to take the set up of the previous game and run it straight into the mud. The prisoner of Azkaban's problem was that it lacked in story especially as they got close to the end where they made the game go "Okay, let's just wrap this up already" which made it unnecessarily short. The Sorcerer/Philosopher's Stone was either a PS1 experimentation or a Chamber of Secrets copy paste with half the content missing; but an overall fun first time experience. It's shortness being reasonable. The Chamber of Secrets had a right balance of decent story pacing (could have been better) Puzzle Solving, and layout difficulty. All three had their respective flaws, some more than others (Chamber of Secrets just using hindsight could easily be remade in today's standards into an absolute BEAST of a game, as well as all of them by this point in time if given the proper love by those who love the movies/books/pottormor and video games with the dedication and skill to put lots and lots of love into them. But where this game currently stands in the line up, it is a huge disappointment from the potential it had to be.

Definitely the camera angles made this game very difficult to play,especially when you're so used to the first 3 games and the third person camera,and you can't even change the keys on the keyboard,first time I saw that,I was like wtf! Oo,and you can't use the mouse for the spells either,maybe for PS2 the gameplay is so much better than the PC version,and the game is kind a nice,not as good as the first 3 of course.

I enjoyed this this game when I was little, but started to notice that there were definitely some problems I had with it; the Ai would sometimes not respond to the player's actions and dawdle around instead, there is way too much backtracking to get the collectibles AND the Triwizard Shields, some missions are way too punishing to get the highest rank, offered way too much enemies that could just group and curbstomp you, and the overall pacing of the game is pretty linear. Also, I think the visuals are not that good and very cheap. They didn't include fully animated cutscenes which makes the game even more boring to watch and the 3D-models didn't help that much. Lastly the frame rates looked pretty poor and the slowdowns were very noticeable. So this was a pretty bad game in my current opinions.

@Jack Smith Two months later but I will answer. The spell that you use to deafeat foes depends on the creature you're jinxing and HOW you're jinxing it. For example, take the first enemy, the dugbog, you have three possible jinxs to defeat it. If you just jinx it, you will use Orchideous, a spell that turns the enemy in a bunch of flowers. If you levitate it and jinx it in the air, you will use Orbis, a spell that disapears the creature into blue orbs. If you stun it, then levitate it and jinx it while in the air, you will use Avifors, a spell that transforms the creature in a flock of birds. This "variety" of jinxes - that by the way, doesn't do much other than the visuals - is different for every enemy. There are enemies whose heads you can turn into pumpkins, and others you can turn them into bunnies or make them explode in bubbles.

@Jack Smith If I remember correctly, none of those spells you mention are shown in this game - at leats not in the gameplay, I don't remember if they show up in the cutscenes. And for if I recommend this game, well, I liked it when I played it, like 12 years ago. Is a style bastly different from any of the other Harry Potter games and, to be frank, it has aged poorly. I would recommend it if it were to be your first entry in the Harry Potter game franchise, or if you have friends that want to play it with you, otherwise I probably wouldn't.

You know, they really should've had Voldemort and Harry attack each other with spells in the final boss level, partly because final bosses are often really powerful and challenging to beat. I wouldn't exactly call one beam collision a fight, which of course, also applies to the duel in the movie. Designing the game so the player/Harry and the final boss Voldemort could have a ferocious duel would've made up for the simpler one in the film. I mean, having Harry fight skeletons and send the colliding beams at them is awesome, but that really should be in addition to Harry and Voldemort firing spells at each other. By the way, to get the answers to my following questions straight and directly, as opposed to seeking them via the long video, what spells can you use in this game. Stupefy? Expelliarmus? And in basic summary, what makes this game so bad compared to the others? I had been thinking of ordering it, but it sounds totally un-advisable

I absolutely detested the Forbidden Forest when I played this years ago. It’s so disorientating with similar areas and objects hidden by mushrooms. Also those catapults were a nightmare to handle. I wanted to learn its layout but I couldn’t be bothered.

I finished this game back in February of 2006 first hp game I beat then I finished 1 through 8 by August of 2011 just 2 days after mine and Harry's birthday yes my b day is also July 31 after I beat the 7th one I wanted 6 months for the last 2 come out and that's when I started to speedrun so I had already beat the 7th 10 times before the last one came out I've beeten this one 30 times 7th 40 times the rest 20 each except the final 1 only beat it 13 times

I never used autofill after I got 3 cards for everyone, I also can't believe you played as only Harry for the whole game, I play as all of then so I can get enough beans for them so I can get their cards easier than just having enough beans by chance, plus you didn't get the vanishing card from Moody's challenges or the rest of them for everyone else, that makes this walkthrough not 100% because of everything you missed

This game was the first disappointment I had with HP Games. Was not sure if it was budget (due to it being the first they had some of the voice actors from the film into - though they still kept the OG Narrator which was cool), or if it was just to pump it out. Regardless they changed too much. THe Fifth one was actually pretty cool, I never played 6 or 7 (but from what I have seen of both they were not amazing either).
