Yes, they really redeemed him. As a huge dumbledore fan, I actually think this is the only movie where they (almost!) got him right, and it's a huge redemption from cranky dumbledore in movies 3, 4, and 5. Richard Harris had the kind old man aspect to him, but not quite the quick-witted playfulness or underlying intimidating self-awareness of his own power. Movie 6 dumbledore is almost perfect except for the boring grey robes.

@G E T R E K T 905 I get what you're saying, but there was really no reason to fuck up Dumbledore's character like they did in the fourth movie. Having Gambon portray the cold, quiet fury of book Dumbledore rather than the snappy, almost childish attitude of movie Dumbledore wouldn't have wasted any time. I believe the only reason they made such a transition was for sheer shock value; I won't deny that the infamous Goblet of Fire scene was more eye-catching in the movie thanks to Dumbledore's dim-witted outburst.
@okapaddathiokaplanning6156 Жыл бұрын
@@bologna3464 IMO, the book Dumbledore was calm most of the time and it certainly fit the books. But, in the movies, I absolutely loved Gambon's Dumbledore because for some reason, Gambon's Dumbledore looked more alive than Richard Harris' Dumbledore. Richard Harris was a great fit for the earlier movies where the atmosphere of the plot is not as dark as the later ones. Gambon absolutely nailed the scenes and I wouldn't change a thing about Dumbledore in the movies even if I could.

Yeah, no. I ADORE Snape's character for the complexity. He is by far the most - and, in a way, the only - complex character Rowling managed to create. But, he was far from pure hearted. He was sincerely a hateful and selfish man. I feel like one cannot truly appreciate the duality of his character without admitting that. Yes, he died a hero, no one can deny that. But don't be blind to his flaws, that's so boring.

Snape saves three people here. 1) Draco. What's most painful here is that Snape kills the only person who had any idea of his true allegiance. Not only does he kill Dumbledore here, he also kills his chance of any vindication in later life. Not to mention that Albus was perhaps his only real friend. Dumbledore was right, perhaps they do sort too soon.

It's even more sad when you learn that in order to properly perform the Avada Kedavra curse you have to really mean it... So for a short instant Snape had to remove his humanity and conscience in order to kill Dumbledore...
@vanshagarwal23624 жыл бұрын
@@kyleenglot9184 Thats true I forgot about that. So I'm guessing to fuel his rage for a second maybe he had to think of James to build anger or he had to hate dumbledore for not being able to protect lily from voldemort. Because snape asked dumbledore to protect them. Or it could be his hatred for voldemort that enabled him. But snape knows about voldemort's occlumence expertise hence more likely it was in hatred of james or dumbledore to disguise his feelings. There are a lot of options for him to fuel his rage there.
@kyleenglot91844 жыл бұрын
@@vanshagarwal2362 we will never know how he managed to find something powerful enough to succeed in it. I think it was in goblet of fire when Moody/Barty Crouch Jr is teaching them about the unforgivables and he says that a weak delivery of the Avada Kedavra curse would give someone little more than a nosebleed.
@boginator554 жыл бұрын
@@kyleenglot9184 We know for the Cruciatus curse, you have to really want to cause pain, not just the skill to cast the spell itself... Bellatrix herself said that when Harry tried it on her, he succeeded in casting it but it didn't last because in her own words "righteous anger won't hurt me for long." But in the case of the killing curse it may not necessarily require the caster to be fueled with rage and hatred, just the necessary power and desire to cause death, and Snape knew that if he was unsuccessful, Dumbledore would suffer greatly at the hands of Bellatrix or Greyback (and he was already dying from the ring's curse anyway). Not to mention the unbreakable vow he made to Narcissa, and knowing this is what Dumbledore planned with him. Therefore, Snape was able to successfully desire Dumbledore's death as he cast his curse, not so much with rage but with mercy.

“Don’t you understand? I have to kill you or he’s going to kill me.” That line makes me cry so hard. Because its proof that Draco dosen't want to do this, he just dosen't have a choice. This entire scene just breaks my heart. I feel so bad for him and what he's gone through, what he's being forced to do. He's sixteen and he's being forced to murder someone, not just someone but his headmaster and one of the most powerful wizards to ever exist. And if not, he and his family will probably tortured and murdered. The acting in this scene is amazing, you can hear the pain in his voice and see it in his eyes. you can see how upset he is. You can tell how much he dosen't want to do this and i'm sure that for the rest of his life, he regretted taking Dumbledores wand. Because thats the reason he died. But he had no choice unless he wanted to be dead. You can see the look of regret after dumbledore is killed and it breaks my heart. He didn't want any of this. But he had no choice. Yes, he was offered protection, but, he was too scared for himself and his family to take it. He's so young and its so terrible that he's being forced to do this. You know who he reminds me of... Regulus Black. Both born into rich pureblood familys that believe in blood purity, both forced by there family to become death eater, both forced by voldemort to do things they don't want to do and see things they don't want to see and both did something to defy him in the end and had redemption. But somebody else had spoken Snape’s name, quite softly. “Severus...” The sound frightened Harry beyond anything he had experienced all evening. For the first time, Dumbledore was pleading. Snape said nothing, but walked forwards and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed. Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face. “Severus...please...” Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. “Avada Kedavra!” A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape’s wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. Harry’s scream of horror never left him; silent and unmoving, he was forced to watch as Dumbledore was blasted into the air: for a split second he seemed to hang suspended beneath the shining skull, and then he fell slowly backwards, like a great rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight.

@@Lasmelan How in any was was Snape morally questionable? He was loyal to Dumbledore from the very beginning, to the very end. All the things he did was to keep Harry safe, and defeat voldemort. He was the one who provided Harry with the sword of Godric Gryffindor to destroy the horcruxes, he was so loyal to dumbledore, he even killed him to protect not only draco, but his own cover to continue working towards voldemorts demise. Not even after his death, none of the death eaters knew he was a double agent, he only died because voldemort wanted the elder wand.

Dumbledore had a very painful death in this scene he already suffered in finding the horcrux with Harry and then he got killed by his own fellow professor who respected him so much can't imagine how he and Snape felt during his final moments just like Harry did 😭

Michael Bruce Yeah. He’s one of the best actors imo. And I think he’s a nice person even though I don’t know him personally.

There is another. If they ever were to put Severus Snape in a movie again, Benedict Cumberbatch would be the one and only candidate who could pull it off. He does a nearly perfect Alan Rickman impression, mimicking his every intonation and inflection. You could really see him channeling Alan Rickman when he spoke, almost doing the same facial expressions and everything. Put an Alan Rickman CGI face on Ben C, and we will have a... somewhat passible substitute as Severus Snape.

It will always get me how Snape's voice cracks when he says the killing curse.
