OMG!! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER! This is easily my favorite cue from the series. Idk why but nothing is as exciting as a good action cue lol. Thank you so much and well done!!

How wonderful your analysis is. I *like* to think that Cuaron on spotting this scene once mentioned that he needed some sort of "fugue" and JW decided to make a little joke in response. I'm very surprised at the appearance of Double Trouble. Williams doesn't usually make such "references", but it is in Prisoner that you can find the Buckbeak motif in Time Past, the Time-Turner motif at the timpani in The Crystal Ball. But Double Trouble in Quidditch..... I didn't expect it.

Thanks man, you're too kind. I really like that thought. I'm sure Cuaron must have had some input regarding the fugue section, because it is so different from the quidditch music for the first two films. Maybe it was just Williams, who knows. It's just so well executed here - the imitation in Half-Blood Prince just sounds a bit uninspired and empty to me. The appearance of Double Trouble really puzzled me, and I didn't really know how to explain it. It could also just be like Leia's Theme for Ben's Death in A New Hope - that melody might have just best fit the bill for this moment, despite perhaps not being so thematically relevant. Those 2 bars were by far the most difficult for me to analyse.

Once again i must say the Quality of your reductions and analysis is second to none. And they are also the most visually pleasing imho. I don`t know if you noticed, but the woodwinds in Bar 56 actually play the line from the third Bar of the Subject but a tritone away from where it should be in relation to the Subject. Just something i noticed. Another thing you didn`t mention is that the Big motif in the Violins in Bar 92-93 seems to be a rythmic augmentation of the 4-note "Main Motif" just with all the wrong Intervals, wouldn`t you agree?

Thanks so much. What a great pickup! I don’t know how I didn’t notice that. The combination of the subject and countersubject creates a very cool line, especially with all these different fragments being stated in different voices. Wish I’d written that down.. Thanks for that!

Magnificent work, could you do the Future Harry scream Expecto patronus?

That's a great idea - a very complicated cue! But I'll add it to the list.

At 0:49, that four-note motif reminds me of the eight-note motif from Howard Shore in Lord of the Rings. I wonder if the director was influenced and used that in the temp score to show John Williams. Amazing analysis as always.

Thanks! I think it's more likely that Williams was just inspired by that score himself, but it's a good pickup! Definitely similar.

I have never seen such a detailed and informative reduction - for a cue as complex as this, no less! The way Williams builds tension throughout is really spectacular. Has the score for 4m2a been leaked? I thought it was missing - at least I don't have it, but 4m2 and everything else I have...

Thanks! The full cue hasn’t leaked, no, but part of it is in the LTP version, I had to transcribe the rest by ear.

Hello Where can I find the midi file that the person made for a midi mockup of this? I have a feeling that Musescores PDF reader won't like the score reduction page so I wanted to try out the midi file Thank you so much!!!
