6:37 I would say that rather than trying to teach Aku to be faster and better Dazai was actually trying to get Aku follow orders. Aku was already ok at fighting but the thing is that he was too quick to kill his opponents and rushing into fights , like the one time Dazai asked them to capture the enemies so he could get information out of them Aku ended up killing them and Dazai's wording sounded like it wasn't the first time he killed someone he was not supposed to. This is why Dazai said to Oda that Aku is like unsheathed sword and what really needs to learn is to sheath that sword. While Dazai's methods might be questionable Aku had gone against orders and I think someone like Mori would not have been as lenient as Dazai if Aku kept repeating his mistakes so many times (I mean they are in the mafia).
