Yes, you put your loose tea in and it goes into your cup. I used to have several of them for my loose-leaf teas, now the tea kettle that I have, has one that goes in it, so you set your kettle on to boil them remove it from heat, and add the tea strainer and it steeps the whole pot of tea.
