I'm not too sure about that. Harry was an emotional wreck, not wanting to be alone and not knowing where else to go, when he said that. Harry once said he had changed a lot since he first fell in love with Ste and personally, I think the same. Ste was always gonna stay special to Harry, the kind of fond memory most people associate their first love with. But I have my doubts about whether Harry truly "loved" Ste like this in the end. Or why else did he refuse Ste's offer to reunite so strongly when he head was clear and didn't panic about going on the run?

Because as far as I can remember, Ste was willing to forgive Harry after he found out about his affair on their wedding day but Harry rejected him, saying he was in love with James. Months later, as they started to rebond, Ste told Harry he wanted him back but Harry refused once again. So what makes you think that?

Just re-watching this for some reason due to the can't believe relationship of Ste and James!! I think that Harry going to see Ste showed that he did care and also likely the realisation of the sort of man James could be when he was angry and hurt by you. Clearly none of the three of them are innocent bystanders but James was in a league of his own with his manipulations and cunning plans. While Harry may have still had more feelings for James at that time even knowing the lengths James would go to if he felt done by, his care for Ste remain intact and there was regret in his last conversation with Ste in how they couldn't work it out. Plus knowing HO, the likelihood would have been them revisiting Starry because it a form they have done and continue to do with other HO couplings. Especially when they actually put Ste and James together considering all the issues that have happened between them with their few connected love interests. I don't think anyone saw them coming, well at least I didn't but then again it's HO and most of the recent gay characters have all had relationships with one another!
