I think he's right not to define himself, also because sexuality can change over the years, just when you think you are one thing or the other you meet someone and bang! you change your mind or you open up to new experiences. It's society (and religion) that brainwash people and tell them who to love. More and more people define themselves as not completely straight, I think this is a healthy and natural way to be. You fall in love/are attracted to the person, not the genitals.
