I remember watching this movie at one of those neighborhood Christmas parties where the adults are on the main floor and the kids are sent to the basement. I remember hating that seal and being so disappointed when the explosion turned into lollipops and candy canes. I also thought Lucinda was a boy, and that Captain Cragg song has been stuck in my head for over a decade.

Ignoring the horrible animation, this is kind of a decent movie. It handles some of the messages well, and some of the jokes are actually good. (Specially the "I can hardly believe it" joke) I remember liking this movie a lot. Tho in my country it was called "The penguin princesses" And the punk sister was voiced by the Lisa Simpson of my country. It was weird 😅

I’ve had a great 2021 and I can’t wait to see what 2022 has to offer. Merry Christmas, Kyle!

At least this movie knows that Penguins are from the South Pole.

The weirdest part of this by far was recognizing one of the male voice actors from "Dawn of War: 40K"

On thing to know about this particular movie was that it was going to originally be in 2D and released by GoodTimes Entertainment... but I guess after the ill-fated Rudolph the Movie, and some other circumstances beyond their control... I guess they shelved it and after their last breath and folding into Gaiam, Miramax and Paramount must have scooped up the rights... and turned it into a cheap CG film. Dear lord.

Just right now a video showed up in my recommended that is a preview for it that not only has a still of the characters in 2D but says it was supposed to come out in 1999. So apparantly this had a much more interesting production process than I originally thought.

Also I saw that 2D still and I thought it was pretty funny showing that when the film was originally going to be a 2D animated film Lucinda was originally meant to have a Karen haircut before they decided to give her that weird Punk hairdo in the actual Film we got

The film itself was also produced by Tundra Productions, the same company as Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys, which also has similar animation quality.

This was distributed by Miramax? That explains everything.

Surprisingly this movie was originally meant to be done in traditional 2D back when the film was first commissioned in 1998 and we even got a still of the original animation which actually would have worked better in my opinion

7:16 Having been a huge paleo geek as a kid, this bit always bugged me. Like... pterosaurs were *not dinosaurs.* So when people say birds evolved from dinosaurs - which they did, though technically they're still dinosaurs themselves - that does *not mean the pterosaurs.* The fact that they both generally have big-ash wings making them capable of flight is a classic example of convergent evolution.

I watched this film a lot as a kid and thought it was a silly flick that I could just turn off my mind and sit through. After a recent rewatch from my DVD, though, I can safely say that it is just painful for me to watch without my brain turned off.
